    "barrel" jockey box build

Ya that's the one thing that's been in my mind. I'm thinking that in the summer I'm still going to put the kegs in trash cans with Ice to cut down on the heat exchange. And insulating the lines would help too maybe the tube insulation from HD.

    "barrel" jockey box build

Next I took it to work and sanded everything up to make it look more barrel like. Got it looking decent. Next was aesthetics, I used a soldering iron to burn some graphics in, and got the holes drilled for the shanks. All that's left is to finish the bottom and...

    "barrel" jockey box build

So I wanted a nice jockey box for doing events, we've got a few weddings and the 4th coming up this summer so I wanted to be prepared. What I wanted was 6 taps and compact. So I decided to use a 10 gal igloo with a 6 way cold plate chiller inside and to dress it up a bit. First I cut off the...

Another 'whats wrong!?' post... but please help!

Not right now. And mostly because they are 2nd year plants in planters. that's not a bad thing you've gotta do what you gotta do.. But I would train no more than 6 of the healthiest bines, and no more than 3 bines per string. We're talking late may now and I would prune all other growth( new...

wrapping a fridge in wood?? anyone try this?

This is what I did: I used 1/8" plywood cut to size of all the panels then glued them to the freezer with contact cement. Then I cut aluminum angle iron to cover the corners. I used pop rivets to hold everything on. You could probably do that with a stand-up.

    Hop Farm San Diego

It's not going to get hot enough to damage the roots for a while once it starts to warm up to around that 90 degree range then you might need to worry about soil temp in the pots i would try doing what mountainman619 suggested by burying the buckets, you can get cheep thermometers for soil on...

    Hop Farm San Diego

gotta do what you gotta do! they will grow but as the root structure has little room stretch it will stress it out eventually, but probably year 2 or 3. your just not going to get the yield that you would if they were in the ground. The ideal growing temp for hops is between 80 and 95...

Is a 10' hop pole too short?

I should mention that as the bines reach the top you should make sure that you try and keep the bines on the twine. If you have a foot or two of bine flapping in the wind over your trellis you'll get stress breakage especially on young plants. It will make the crown produce more bines late in...

Is a 10' hop pole too short?

When I first started growing hops I used a 10 ft trellis system. I put two vertical pieces of twine two and a Half feet off the center of the crown, one on each side. and then going from the center of the crown outward zig zag two more pieces attaching them to the vertical pieces making kind of...

    Hops Growing Question

funny story kinda... when we started our farm we didn't have the fridge space inside for all the rhizomes inside the house so i put 100 cascade rhizomes in an old mini fridge out back. went out to check on them a week later and.... they're all frozen! after freaking out a bit we defrosted and...

    Horse/Cow Poo?

I've based the way i fertilize my hops on Oregon State's fertilizer guide for hops (http://extension.oregonstate.edu/catalog/pdf/fg/fg79-e.pdf). That is why if you choose organic options i would recommend composted chicken manure because you get more N and K. I use all liquid fertilizers on my...
