Need suggestions for next brew. Trying to try something different

Northern brewer has a nice Lefse Belgian Blonde kit that I made a few months ago as a first brew. Really nice light golden color, not hoppy at all, very pleasant for a session beer.

    Stuck fermentation help

I'm still fairly new to brewing but I have a few brews under my belt. My first question is whether or not you are doing extract or all grain?

    Elite IPA

yeah thats what I have found out too. I was just excited because copper colored IPA's are probably my favorite. That's kind of why I opted to use Melanoidin, and for the good malt profile it adds. Just for an example I really enjoy the ipa produced by Caldera Brewing in southern Oregon.

    Elite IPA

Man all I can say is that this bad boy smells good out of the airlock! Will most definitely be posting pictures as it develops. Looked like it was going to be a dark coppery color from the wort.

Lefse Belgian Blonde Ale. Turned out to be and amazing first ever brew!

    Elite IPA

okay that I can do. It wasn't a full 5 gallon boil either. I topped it off with about a gallon of water and from what I've heard that can mess with the ibu's in a hop heavy beer.

    Elite IPA

Hey everyone, Just wanted to see what you guys thought of this recipe that I crafted myself. Just made it today so we'll see how it turns out. If you need any more info just let me know. 1lb Melanoidin Malt (steeped 30 minutes) 6lb Golden Malt extract (60) 1oz Summit (60) 3.15lb Golden...

    Legacy Hops

oops did not realize how huge those would be....

    Legacy Hops

first one is before I decided to pour in the yeast. There is not much head yet, but the carbonation is there is the beer itself!

    Legacy Hops

Dry hopped a honey wheat ale with 2 ounces of legacy and it turned out great! Truely a distinct berry like aroma. Was paired with cascade in the brew so I think there is some truth to legacy matching with C hops well. IPA is up on the dockett with these being the primary aroma/flavoring hop.

First IPA Recipe - looking for input/advice

Most extract kits are set up in such a way that you are topping off the wort with 2 gallons of water anyway. That being said I have not made an IPA yet (waiting for ingredients in transit), but other extracts I have made did not taste weak or unflavorful so I wouldn't worry about that.

Recipe crafting a copper colored IPA

So I was just wondering if anyone could help me formulate an extract recipe that would create a nice copper colored ipa. I have all of the hops lined out that I want to use, summit for bittering, and a mix of cascade and legacy for aroma. Could anyone point me in the right direction for a good...

    Dry hopping an American Wheat?

Well I put in 2 oz of Legacy into the bucket and it is smelling great!

    Legacy Hops

yeah i opened them so I could take that heavy pound bag (more like 18oz) and vaccuum seal them into 1 oz bags
  15. Eliterunner1

    Dry hopping an American Wheat?

Yeah thats what I was thinking, I don't want to over do it.

    Dry hopping an American Wheat?

I looked over beersmith again and the FG I measured is good for a final gravity, it just fermented much faster than expected I suppose. It said the gravity should be at 1.018 by the end of primary. That OG i listed was corrected for temperature.

    Dry hopping an American Wheat?

Just an update on this American Wheat, my OG was 1.055 which is a considerable amount higher than the kit said it would be and I have no problems with this. Not only that but my gravity after primary was 1.010 which is quite a bit more fermentation than what beer smith even calculated it to be...

    Legacy Hops

I too look forward to using them for some sort of an IPA. I think I want to try them in combination of Summit as my bittering and cascade. could be an interesting combination
  19. Eliterunner1

    Dry hopping an American Wheat?

yeah the entire brewing process only used 1oz of cascade anyway. I just want to give it a really citrus aroma and when i bagged these hops they smelled pretty great!

    Dry hopping an American Wheat?

So I recently brewed a AHS Honey Wheat kit that is very much a classical wheat beer using Wyest American Wheat 1010 yeast. I recently have purchased a pound of Legacy hops from hopsdirect. These hops aren't very well known so I am anxious to try them out! Would it be so bad if I wanted to...
