Bulk Grain Group Buy (Indianapolis, In)

I can tell you I'll probably want 5-6 bags. I did a little looking around and it seems the Country Malt group sets the lowest bulk discount at 2000lbs. Not sure you are gonna get that kinda response or that you are gonna really want to transport a literal ton of grain.

Bulk Grain Group Buy (Indianapolis, In)

Pretty much anytime after Memorial day weekend. Two of the four kids will be gone and I should have the brewstand done/mill bought by then.

Bulk Grain Group Buy (Indianapolis, In)

I'm interested when are you going ? Kinda busy atm, kid graduating and family coming into to town. But I'm getting close to finishing up my stand and will need something to put in it.

Another Kegerator build GE Dorm Fridge

Actually checked the temp setting on the fridge when I got home yesterday and I have it set almost on its warmest setting and was still freezing barley water errr I mean beer.

Another Kegerator build GE Dorm Fridge

No problem with temp other than it getting too cold and freezing the beer. Of course that was some pretty weak stuff (was trying to make something the wife would drink).

    Sanitary/Unsanitary keggle connections

Given the option (money/ability and equipment) I would weld them. No worry about leakage or replacing o-rings or gaskets is money well spent in my book.

Why sanitary welds on keggles, etc?

ss wire brush seemed to get all that I could see off but really no telling if there was any on the bottom that I couldn't see.

Why sanitary welds on keggles, etc?

I welded a coupling into a keg yesterday and did use the solar flux (not cheap btw $63 for a 1 lb can) I did this not because I was concerned about infection or anything of that nature but the corrosion aspect. I welded them with a MIG welder(yes with ss wire and no tri-gas just 75/25 and didnt...

    So I'm an idiot

It's just the standard false bottom dip tube from this false bottom http://www.midwestsupplies.com/11-sanke-stainless-steel-false-bottom.html . I was thinking something like that but with only one tube to the center of the keggle in the depression. Any reason for the double tubes it seems that...

    So I'm an idiot

Warning text wall. Well anyway, figured I would do an extract batch before I put my keggle OOC for the upcoming brewstand build but thought to myself "self, wouldn't it be nice to ditch the auto siphon for this last extract batch and just use a drain valve" well yeah seemed like a good idea to...

Return to MLT on HERMS build

Thats what I was looking for, thanks. Just wasn't sure if there was a brewing related reason not to do this.

Return to MLT on HERMS build

I'm almost done with my smoker build and getting ready to start the brewstand and was thinking of using a copper spray ring at the top of MLT for a return from the HEX coil in the HLT. Is there any reason not to do this instead of just a section of copper tubing routed down into the MLT?

    forgot to label rhizomes

I had a similar issue only I can't even remember which the other variety is, one is Mt. Hood the other well, I have no idea. I do remember it was a high alpha. Not really that stressed about it though they'll make beer and that's all I'm really concerned about.

Another Kegerator build GE Dorm Fridge

Here's a couple of pics of the "new" tap handles they are actually darker than they look in the pics did a mahogany stain on them with a gloss poly top coat.

    Glass Conical?

If the lid was completely removable, much like a ss conical it should be way easier to clean than a carboy. I really like the idea of a cast glass conical. Seems to me it would have all the advantages of a ss with the only drawback be breakage which just means be careful (and really with it's...

    Glass Conical?

I was just thinking for ease of cleaning being able to completely remove everything and scrub the @#$@ out of it.

    Glass Conical?

I would think it would be a fairly simple thing to do. A conical shaped glass cast with the top and bottom threaded to have the lid and dump valve accept a threaded and gasketed metal or plastic component. Side dump may be slightly more difficult but I would assume still doable. This would be...

Another Kegerator build GE Dorm Fridge

No problem with the freezer section my only problem is it's really close to the beer lines and has a tendency to freeze smaller beers in the lines. I'll take some pics of the tap handles when I get home.

    Auber Temp Controller Questions

The Auber temp controller has a "relay mode" (can't remember specifically what it's called) that allows you to use it as such. From auber's site: "This controller has been upgraded with many new features. The cold junction compensation circuit has been improved for better accuracy when used...
