5l mini keg- how do they work?

This is from another, non-beer forum I frequent, the guy started with 5l on Heinekin: So, now I am wondering how the mini-kegs work. Some chemical reaction to make CO2, that leaves charcoal? Some other technology that we need to know?

    Where to get bottles?

Take a few homebrews to a slow recycling center/booth. Trade "recycle" full for empties. Last time I did that, the girls even did the dumpster diving for me, all I had to do was hold the box. But I didn't ask them how old they were either. They seemed to place a great value on a couple...

    Beer formulas hide or share?

There's sure lots of stories of Micro brewies being VERY helpful, even to the point of publishing their recipes. Anybody who won't share a recipe is a very petty person. Probably somebody you wouldn't want to share a home brew with anyhow.

    sour mash experience?

I suspect you have already googled for it. But I did make a sour mash fruit beer. Too dry, I called it Srawberry Tart. I mashed 20% of my grains 3 days early, and let it sit in the cooler/mash tun. It was sour alright. Then go ahead and add the rest of the grains and mash. I thought I was...

Would it be wrong for me to punch my mate...

Perhaps exposure to all those good brews will teach Roomie some beer appreciation? If not, punch like Judy would.

    beer fridge or freezer

Re: lying fridges down for transport. An appliance guy I asked said that just don't plug it in until it has been upright for a while to allow the oil to drain back to the crank case where it belongs. I think there are several other considerations for upright transprort. One is space saving in...

well my new MT failed it's test miserably...

Baloney. Coolers just don't seem to be that variable, they all seem to work. Willsellout's problem is that he didn't fill it up enough for his test. 2 gallons in a 15 gallon chest just won't act like the 5 gallons of mash would. You wouldn't expect one tray of ice cubes to chill a six pack in...

Thinking about 2 brews back to back

Mash the second batch in anydamncooler, then transfer to your reaL MLT after starting the first's boil? I guess the timing between batchs would be set by the first's sparge time? Could you do an extra sparge of the first batch? It would be weak, but then use it for the sparge water for the...

IGLOO Ice Cube Maxcold 70 Qt Roller

Most guys doing MLT's use new plumbing anyhow. Why be shy about drilling your own hole, then using a bulk head fitting? That way you can put the drain near a corner, and get even better draining (and efficiency). A cheap Spade bit would work just fine, it is only plastic and foam. I used one to...

No full wort boils for me :(

BBQ's and stoves are not usually considered "Open Flames". Campfires are. Is a Turkey burner a stove? You could try to find a bad-ass camp stove? Use two burners under the kettle? I know my camp stove gets hotter than my kitchen stove. It's a cheap S piece of crap. Anybody out there using...

    Keggle Curiosity

If Collin's keggle has the drain valve dead center int he bottom, he could screw in a piece of stainles or brass pipe, then an el to the outside. Put the valve outside of the fire. Use a 'banjo' burner, run the plumbing through the middle. Using it only for heating sparge water means it won't...

    1/2 Barrell Uses???

Make the keggle. It's twice as efficient to make ten gallons at a time.

    pimp my bucket?

My drip stopped when I replaced the soft rubber washer with a black o-ring. Now I can tighten her up good. I would put the spigots on my other bucket, but then they won't nest together.

    The AG Fantasy

Lessee, If my LHBS has 30 kinds of Malt, 30 kinds of Hops, and 30 kinds of yeast. And I use 4 different kinds of malt, 2 hops, and one yeast in an AG recipe, that gives me 27,000 different recipes- without accounting for varying the proprtions. At 35 cents per bottle.

    Gluten Free Brewing- DPP-IV enzymes?

I found this: <http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/entrez/query.fcgi?cmd=Retrieve&db=PubMed&list_uids=16190654&dopt=Abstract> magine that, the National Institute of Health helping homebrewers... It seems that the same protein in gluten is the one respnsible for chill haze. They added an enzyme that...

Beer is good!!! (The Buffalo Theory)

It must be true. I couldn't even understand the theory until I had a couple beers.

    Pretty easy to make alcohol

Sounds like a Lacto Bacillus to me, not wild yeast. It's on grains to begin with.

are thee products the same ???????? do you think

Looks like all those adapters are to fill the paintball tanks from the bigger bottle. I suppose they will work to extract gas from the PB tasnks, but the fitting will be backwards for your beeer regulator. Hye, my 5# tank is an old fire extinguisher. Somebody had the valve changed and the tank...

    Stainless Steel Pots

Silver solder ought to work, less heat. I tried silver brazing on a stainless tank. It made cracks, severly. Junked it. Seems some stainless's don't like to be 1200 degrees. So, being an unknown alloy, next time I'll try solder. It's lead free, takes umm 600 degrees? Solder form the inside...

    Test drove my burner

On the other hand, if it is taking too long, he's wasting propane too. I think he should move his burner away, my turkey fryer is about 4 inchs. And try another boil with it cranked up a bunch. Adjust the air butterfly for the bluest flame too, yellow is unburnt fuel, makes soot.
