All in - low sparge - Infusion Mash

Finally making the switch to gluten free brewing. I've been watching the threads here and I think i've got enough knowledge. Thanks everyone. I've been out of brewing for 2 years since I developed a sensitivity to wheat and barley. No problems with millet so far. So to make the switch I...

Single Infusion Mash for Millet? Too good to be true?

Kinda Sad: The folks at CMC didn't respond at all to me email. I've never run a business where I had the luxury of not responding to a customer / potential customer. I'm presuming they are doing pretty well. And as I said in the letter, we are a market that probably isn't worth their time. :(

Single Infusion Mash for Millet? Too good to be true?

sent this to tim at colorado malting: I'm I small business manager. We occasionally get criticism for our pricing. Folks don't realize how expensive it is just operationally to keep our business going. Let along our costs of goods sold. So I understand pricing. Also, I am presuming...

    All Grain Lager Recipe

Hey Neumema: sorry this didn't turn out. I'm really hoping you can figure out what went wrong. I'm about to embark on a SIMB (single infusion Millet beer ;) I too saw that EC Kraus recommends 2TSP/ gallon. I thought that was a lot, given that millet has some diastatic power. But with your...

First gluten free all grain attempt

Chris: the price is high for the grains, and shipping is a killer. I agree with subsequent posts that 1)CMC and Grouse can't really be concerned about the home brew market; 2) Some bigger maltster might be in the future. Also, I'd be happy to go in with anybody on a bulk buy but geography...

First gluten free all grain attempt

Chris: That's great news. Glad your first all grain turned out well. Based on your experience, today I contacted Colorado malting. I had gotten a quote for pale millet from them in 2013: $1.98 / lb. now they are selling through a brew shop and wow! Price jump to around $2.60/lb Crystal is $5...

Single Infusion Mash for Millet? Too good to be true?

++ on that. I am an experienced brewer who developed an allergy to barley. I'm watching glutarded-chris's experiments with alacrity! I'm on Team Glutarded, 100%. I think there are a lot of folks -- like me-- on the sidelines watching and hoping :) Thank ya'll for the hard work!

Jim: Yes! That's exactly what I was looking for. I very much appreciate your help.

Gluten Free might just be getting better! A LOT BETTER!

John: Can you explain your technique as If I were 5 years old? I'm a pretty experienced all grain brewer and I am definitely not groking what is going on here. I am presuming that you are (or that you are planning on) mashing in at 150-152F. Then you are raising the mash temperature to...

Gluten Free might just be getting better! A LOT BETTER!

Ricemaltster and Jay: Thank you. I've read this entire thread and I'm very interested in brewing the pale ale with the grain bill detailing 18#s pale rice plus adjuncts. In the brew schedule it states the mash temp as 152F, but later on in the thread you mention that you do a decoction...
