    illuminated rocker switch help

That switch is DPST (double pole single throw) so you can switch both legs. Without seeing a diagram or anything else with the switch, it looks like you need to hook up the other leg to be switched, probably only the input side actually, but the switch actually needs power and only one hot leg...

I don't see a picture with the posted link. Can I see the back of the switch?

    My BCS-460 eHERMS build

Where did you buy the box from? I like the idea of a plastic enclosure if the price is right (no worries of it melting and burning if it being monitored.) Looks like you have a ton of room in there for expansion too. Love the build, nice wiring diagrams too. I know I'm getting obsessed with the...

    What heatting element to use?

That refers to the amount of heat put out in a given surface area on the element. The idea is that a shorter element gets much hotter in order to transfer the same amount of heat a longer element would. This could be important if you plan to run the element while mashing, it could possibly...

What to ask an electrcian for?

You'll want a 50 amp GFCI breaker installed in the box and then you'll want him to run the line to a 4-prong outlet wherever you want it at. The 50 amp GFCI breaker may be more expensive than having him install a Spa panel. So basically whatever is better in your electricians opinion. What you...

    When to Use Keggle

I'm hoping he has acquired a chiller over the last 4 years!

    What heatting element to use?

You could install it vertically but you would need to cover the element with liquid to prevent issues. How about a shorter element at 10" ? You could always use 3 of the elements you originally posted.

    Planning the Brichaus E-brewery build

That is AWESOME! Very jealous, how did you come up with that painting technique?

    What heatting element to use?

I would say about 3000 watts would be your absolute minimum. Would you not be able to do use the element I posted? You could use a similar 4500 watt element, those are pretty popular too. Again what are your electrical limitations? Try this guide for heating time.

    What heatting element to use?

1500 watts would work for smaller ~3 gallon batches, but would probably be a little slow. The most popular 240v elements are these ones, but you'll need to make sure you circuit is 30 amps or more to handle the power required by a 5500 watt element. This element boils 10 gallon batches without a...

    Show us your panel

My intermediate panel, I have plans to expand and use a larger box similar to the ones seen above (contemplating BrewTroller pretty seriously).

Best iPhone app for AG Brewing

I bought the iPhone version awhile back and just recently got an ipad. I can't justify buying both right now so I'm just running the iPhone version on my ipad.

Best iPhone app for AG Brewing

I used Brewpal for a few years but updates killed sme functionality and then one day it kept crashing. I got fed up and bought iBrewmaster. It is better than Brewpal, albeit a bit more complicated. I'm a fan, and recommend it. They seem to listen to the customers as well by adding features.

Need help designing an electric brew rig

I like the box, looks like the perfect size to me. Just have to spend more time carefully planning out and wiring the interior. Where did you get the box at?

Suggestions for Brewing Software and smartphone Apps.

The best smartphone app I've used is ibrewmaster. I've tested a few others on android and iPhone to include Brewpal and Brewzor. I don't use applications on my PC for brewing as its easier (for me) to have a mobile option. I like to build recipes and tweak stuff at work and in other places my...

    Switches

I have slowly pieced together my control panel based off of Kal's setup, a few parts from other peoples panels, and some of my own weird ideas. It's only now that I'm piecing it together that I'm finding out the parts I missed. I am very comfortable working with relays, I have wired lots of...

    Switches

I am using a PID and I have two 40amp SSR's, one for the HLT and one for the BK. I am going to order a three position switch to go between the the two elements using a single PID. Thanks for the diagram Sparky (the one I have already looked at and failed to recall when building my panel!). I...

    Switches

I just had some questions, and wanted to ask what other people are using for switches in their control boxes. I like the rotary style 2 position maintained switches for my box. After reading theelectricbrewery.com I located a set of four of them on eBay for about $15 shipped. The only problem...

    Electric HLT planning help

Two elements is definitely possible. Just make sure you have them on two separate circuits. As far as control goes you would need a PID and a couple of solid-state relays to control the amperage going to the elements. I think the PID route with two SSR's is the most feasible way to do it with...
