Teenagers in house - how to secure kegs?

I like where you're going with this. Why not just hook up some electric fencing to the kegs, and taps? Then if they try to use the taps they get zapped, if they try to open the kegs they get zapped!

Teenagers in house - how to secure kegs?

If you only lock the taps but not the fridge then you better make sure you hide your cobra taps too. Otherwise they'll just disconnect your taps, pop on the picnic taps and help themselves.

    $1500 water bill in Florida

Out here in Dallas we're at stage 3 water restrictions. You get to water once a week on a certain day and get hit with huge fines if you violate. however were are provisions for new trees, sod, and hydroseedings. Its pretty nuts. The "water police" drive around looking for violators.

This smells terrible (White Labs Belgian)

I was doing the AHS Honey Hibiscus Wheat, so its kind of a flowery/herbal farty smell. On the plus side, the wort, before fermenting was by the the most delicious wort I've ever tried, I could have popped a couple ice cubes into it and drank a whole glass. This will be quite a refreshing summer...

This smells terrible (White Labs Belgian)

No starter, but fermentation took off in about 12 hours or less. My first allgrain ended up being much higher effency than I expected so my OG was 1.061 instead of 1.052, I think I was short about 1/4 -1/2 a gallon though, the better bottle I was using wasn't marked off like my glass carboys...

This smells terrible (White Labs Belgian)

This white labs belgian wit yeast smells awful fermenting. This is by far the worst smelling fermentation I've ever experienced. And of course the coolest room in the house is the home office closet so its setting in there while I work seeping toxic rhino farts into my work space. Have you...

Is 20' enough for a wort chiller

Bummer dude. I had a spring bender too and was deathly afraid to kink it which is why the connections look like such crap there in the picture. I just wasn't willing to put the force into bending it to get right angles. The good news is that you didn't buy a 50' coil though, that would be...

Is 20' enough for a wort chiller

Good idea! I might buy some more tubing and do that next time. ziggityz here is the finished product. Took me about 30-45min to get it done.

Is 20' enough for a wort chiller

Ziggityz, I just bought 20ft of 1/2in lastnight to do the same thing. Its not ideal because its kind of short but I just want to beat the ice bath as well. The good news is that when you've got extra money you can then buy 50ft of coil and make another one and then use this shorter one as a...

    R.I.P. Kegerator MK1

After reading the "hack" i've decided I value my new home and life too much to try it. I'll just order the part and see what happens.

    R.I.P. Kegerator MK1

I might try it, if I do that and the compressor still doesn't start then at least I don't waste money on a part that won't fix it.

    R.I.P. Kegerator MK1

You might be right. I removed the plastic cover that was over the relay and while it doesn't look burnt out it does look a little worn down. Also, after about 30 seconds of being plugged in a small arc of electricity "pops" between the relay and the bracket its mounted to. Its worth $15-30 to...

    R.I.P. Kegerator MK1

Its a Danby Millenium, one of the kind of hard to find (used) fridges that don't have the freezer section which makes it SUPER easy to turn into a kegerator (No bending of freezer sections!). Also it has the coolant lines on the sides and not on the top, making it safe to drill through the top...

    R.I.P. Kegerator MK1

It had been cooling just fine after the move too. Worked for about a week I guess. So I don't think moving damaged it, it stayed upright the whole time too. I've got to take a look later tonight see if there's anything loose or that looks burnt out I can replace simply.

    R.I.P. Kegerator MK1

My custom built kegerator gave up the ghost sometime earlier this week (i still hadn't hooked up the tap lines after moving yet). Not sure when. I just found out last night. Realized the fridge sounded quiet and checked it, and sure enough... the kegs were warm. The Fridge makes a high...

What type of Coffee Beans do you use?

Flavored coffee to me is what fruit beer is to others. Generally if your coffee needs flavor then you have substandard beans or a roasting issue. I too prefer to just source my own unroasted green coffee beans and roast them myself (it's as easy as buying a popcorn popper from a thrift store)...

    F U Allergies

This is why I really want to get allergy tested to see what trees get me the worst. We just bought a house and there is little to no landscaping so I wanted to put in a few trees but I figure I should probably find out what trees I'm allergic to and NOT get those type of trees.

    F U Allergies

You guys got me thinking about getting allergy shots again. So I called around to 3 different allergy clinics. Found out how much it would cost to get tested and get regular shots if you don't have insurance (like me, my insurance is pretty much catastrophic only). It was between $450-750 for...
