    First timer

Here is a nice one. If you have no equipment at all you can get everything you need here: http://www.austinhomebrew.com/product_info.php?cPath=178_454_456_461&products_id=11361 If you just needed a "kit" with the ingredients only Austin Homebrew also has that kind of kits...

    What time do you brew?

When I brew in the early morning the coffee turns to beer by 10 am or so...

    Is this real life?

Where is the beekeeping forum? With all the mead makers and the rise of urban bee keeping you would think we'd get that one too.

    Thermometer

That was the one I got before the Thermapen. It worked allright, was off by a few degrees, and broke after less than a year. You get what you pay for. I didn't pay full price for the thermapen, got it from their open box sale.

    What time do you brew?

I am not a morning person but if I planned on getting anything else done that day I need to be brewing by 8 or 9 am. My son, who is only 5 months old, will factor into it more once he's older I 'm sure, then I'll have to swtich to night time brewing. THe problem is out here in TX the bugs are...

I'm Starting a New HBT Trend

    I LIKE this idea.

    PB2 Mead

I like that idea. I might have to go that route because what I shared my "great idea" about a peanut butter mead with my wife she said: "Eewww, that sounds like a waste of $40" So, probably definitely I need to start with a 1 gallon batch (So as to not "waste" $40). Maybe I'll just do a 1...

    Brewmasters Warehouse

7 weeks ago? Did you refrigerate it? Did the package not say "perishable"? I always figured you only had a couple weeks to use liquid extract if you were ordering like that. Maybe 4 weeks if you keep it in the fridge. Forest from AHS usually says if you are going to keep the LME for more...

    Good Batch Size

For me the issue wouldn't be having "too much" mead, but like you said "honey money" is limited. So I would rather have a diversity of options than a lot of a few.

    Good Batch Size

Is there a cheap place to get the 3 gallon carboys? I was thinking the same thing regarding batch size. My first batch is 5 gallons because I'm fairly confident I'll like it (blueberry). But 1 gallon seems a bit small, 3 gallons seemed like a happy medium.

    What are you drinking now?

Cold brewed iced coffee concentrate at full strength instead of diluting 3:1 like I'm "supposed" to. Its like the hard liquor of coffee.

    PB2 Mead

I was thinking of starting side by side batches, a peanut butter and a strawberry. Stawberry was just something that popped into my mind while writing this post... My main goal is to make a straight up peanut butter mead. The finished product will hopefully be dry, nutty, with a medium body...

    PB2 Mead

Ok, so my first mead (blueberry melomel) is bubbling away and now my mind wanders to what to try next. It keeps wandering back to peanut butter. I've done a little searching online but can't seem to find any peanut butter mead recipes. So I was thinking of trying a gallon or two on my own...

Why let the must sit for 24 hours?

Also, I probably should have titled this post "Why must the must sit for 24 hours?" Dang that missed opportunity.

Why let the must sit for 24 hours?

Campden tabs. Yep, the recipe called for 5 crushed tabs. So that must have been to sterilize the honey and blueberries. makes sense.

    Battle star Galactics

Yeah, I know about the netflix. I have netflix. I like DVD quality, and owning it independent of having an internet connection. I "aquired" digital copies on my computer as they were released and still have them all. But of course that doesn't get you the special features and such.

    Battle star Galactics

You mean the whole fracking thing.

    Battle star Galactics

Did you guys actually buy the DVDs? I refuse. The fact that they split two of the seasons into two DVDs sets effectively DOUBLING the price of those seasons pretty much means that I will never buy the DVDs until the price drops way way down.

    You made this?

I am lucky when my in-laws can actually finish a glass of my homebrew. They really like stuff like Shiner and Dos Equis, and Michelobe Light. So pretty much everything I make is "hoppy" "bitter" or "oh thats interesting tasting." So far the best results I have had with them are with the Honey...
