Is it a sign I did a bad job?

It's a catch all for all the various potential deep fried meats. Chicken, beef, pork, legs, thighs, gizzard, wings, breasts, etc.

Brew times getting shorter? Sign of the times?

Shortest I have been able to get brewday is about 4 and a half hours. Shorter is better because I've got a couple small kids and my cohort of assistant brewers also have small kids. We cannot leave the wife with the kids on a Saturday longer than is absolutely necessary and likely will involve...

    El Dorado Hopped EW's apfelwein?

I've seen a few posts about dry hopping the apfelwein with moderate success. I will happen to have about .5oz-1oz of extra leftover El Dorado Hops after my next brew and was wondering what anyone with experience thinks. I have never used El Dorado Hops before but the flavor profile is supposed...

How to brew regularly without having a warehouse of beer on hand?

That was one of my selling points about the kegerator to my wife. "see? I can just have a half a beer"... before dinner, during dinner, after dinner, after the kids are in bed... Before I know it I kicked the keg.

    I think i have a problem...

That's a good idea. I need to dig out all my old bottles again. I've also been wanting to try some Belgian styles and am tempted to go cork and cage. Either way I'm going to need a basic corker eventually for the mead and apple wine. Although, I suppose, I can just use clear crown cap bottles...

    I think i have a problem...

My other pipeline limitation is my homemade kegerator (converted mini fridge) only holds two kegs and I only have 3 kegs (plus a "travel" 3 gallon keg) on hand. I may start to do some more bottling again (even though I swore once I started kegging to never bottle again) .

    I think i have a problem...

Heck yeah man! I actually just bought 4 one gallon fermentors off Amazon a couple weeks ago for like $8. Then already have one from an apple juice too. So those 5 gallons of mead are actually going into 5 separate 1 gallon fermentors.

    I think i have a problem...

I took a 4 year break from brewing and now i started brewing and i can't seem to stop. I made 10 gallons in the last month (kegged and tapped). I have 5 gallons fermenting, realized that those 5 gallons need to age longer than those first 10 gallons are going to last. So I'm going to brew...

Anyone else a Ham Radio Operator?

Do it! General is awesome! You get on HF and you're hooked. I started 3-4 years ago and jumped right in passing tech and general in one go. Then waited 3 years and got extra. Right now I was kind of in a lull with radio because the solar cycle is at minimum and i just needed a break from it...

Filter system (not RO) for brewing?

Thats the kind of thing I was thinking of, i just didn't know what to call them. I found that one on amazon and it looks like several of the reviewers have used it for brewing. I'll probably pick it up next paycheck.

Filter system (not RO) for brewing?

Its a pain in the butt to get to. To be honest the one INSIDE the fridge is busted. I bought an external long life filter that runs behind the fridge. But its juts not easily accessible.

5 gallon primary and 5 one gallon secondaries

Have you guys done batches like this before? I have made one batch of mead 6 years ago (still drinking through it because i keep forgetting I have it). It was a blueberry mead. I don't remember a thing about it. All i know about it now is that its purple, tastes kind of like a red wine, and...

Filter system (not RO) for brewing?

Any suggestions for water filtration to just get rid of the normal tap/chlorine off flavors? My fridge has a filter but that would take a long tedious time to fill. Do any of you use any hose end type systems with good success? Basically just want to recreate the "spring water" i buy from the...

British Brown Ale Nut Brown AG

This beer is delicious. It was my first all grain brew. Its very mild and perfect for all my non-hophead friends and family. Even my father in law who is mostly a Lite Beer or Shinerbok drinker even thought it was really tasty. Another friend who mostly drinks "mexican beers" liked it. I...

    Will you miss the bottle?

There are some breweries using special cans as well that are actually meant to drink directly out of. They've had the grab and opening specially designed for aroma and such. They actually prefer you drink from the can than pour into a glass. Whereas in almost all cases with bottles you are...

Second Time All Grain - Stuck Sparges and the benefit of brew buddies

My first all grain attempt went really smoothly. I used my smaller cooler because the grain bill was small enough to do it and I used a grain bag that fit my my 5 gallon cooler. It was great. I'm pretty sure i hit all my target gravity. With my overconfidence in hand i upgraded to a 10...

Homebrewing books (that are not Joy of Homebrewing or Designing Great Beers)

How modern? Seems some new trends like whirlpooling and such don't have a strong presence.
