    Utility Room Brewery Project

In regards to the ferm chamber, kpr121: The second picture is where I intend to put the ferm chamber. My thought was to put the fridge in the back of that area, build small insulated walls out to either side of it at the front of the fridge. Then from the front of the fridge out, put in a...

    Utility Room Brewery Project

Score!! (I think). I was drinking my coffee and pondering what to do about that whole gfci/avoidance of electrocution thing. I suddenly remembered that when my brother helped me remodel the home theater room we pulled out everything that the previous owner had done to have a hot tub in that...

    Utility Room Brewery Project

Going to check out exhausting to exterior wall (as recommended) and see if I can't get the power run and wash stand in tomorrow. A couple of pics attached. Doesn't look terribly promising but the room is larger than the pics make it out to be.

    Another Bar Build

First things first....great looking bar so far. Tough call on the tile, but I think as you have it layed out in the photo would be my preference. In my opinion it might look odd if you sat at one side of the bar and the consistent grout line was parallel to the edge of the bar but...

Wooden Grolsch Bottle Cases, Ten Years in the Making...

Those look great! I keeping adding more things to the to-do list than I'm marking off when I read posts like this. :drunk:

    Utility Room Brewery Project

I should have indicated in the original post that I currently have no plans to brew lagers. I'm barely patient enough to wait on ales:mug: The only question or concern I have with the exhaust fan (mentioned in original post) is if I do have to run it into the dryer duct, will that be too...

    Utility Room Brewery Project

My utility room was *made* for brewing. Well, I'd like to think so considering I'm wanting to make the jump to electric. The utility room is in a walkout basement. In the attached picture the exterior/concrete walls are solid gray and interior walls are gray framed. Existing stuff is in red...

    The perfect day?

Wife decides to grill burgers today while I brew (still in boil). Cards are putting it to Cincinnati, 12-3 (sorry if you're a Reds fan). I hit my OG on this, my 3rd AG brew (well, within a point or two). The wife reminded me that she went shopping at Victoria's Secret yesterday... Well...

    any motorcycle riders

Yes, I was refering to the saddlebags as 2 6-packs are around 4200cc. It was a joke, albeit a bad one. It is actually 1340cc. I'm sure you'll enjoy whatever you end up with. :mug:

    any motorcycle riders

I prefer something a bit larger. Mine is just over 4200cc. That works out to a 6-pack in each saddlebag.

Visual Reference Charts for Beer Styles and Yeast

Awesome work, Oktober! One suggestion/thought... On the SRM chart, would it be difficult (or worth the effort in your mind) to change the bar for each style from the solid yellow to the actual color range that it corresponds to on the keys at the top and bottom?

    Kegging/tap questions

It would be 8' outside of the cooler. From what I've read recently (if understanding it correctly) this shouldn't be a problem with a cooling line.

    Boulevard Brewing

I enjoy several of the Boulevard Smokestack series of beers. One of the local liquor stores where I live had a 4 course dinner set up with each course including a beer pairing from Boulevard. Unfortunately I was unable attend. I did attend the same liquor store's "Spring Beerfest" today which...

    Kegging/tap questions

I wouldn't say that that room was built around watching the Cards (*cough* and the Chiefs) and enjoying barley soda, but it's close. My question is whether or not an 8 foot run is too far even with a chiller line.

    Kegging/tap questions

Thanks for the link and the comment. Wife and I worked quite a bit on "tv room" and look forward to getting the taps in. A bit close to the tv, but I think it will work out fine. Anyone have an opinion about the run from freezer to tap being 8 feet? If it is problematic then I can go with a...

    Kegging/tap questions

I have a small wet bar with a 17" deep countertop. At the end that it butts into the wall, I'd like to put 3 or 4 taps in the wall. I'm guessing with bad math: 3 taps = approx 5.5" apart on center and 2.75" from outside taps to edge of countertop. 4 taps = approx 4.25" apart on center and...

Retired Kegs.....How did you get yours?

Funny timing on your post. I put a "WTB - Keg" ad on craigslist yesterday morning. By evening I had someone willing to sell one for $30. Picked it up today!

Do not be afraid young grasshopper..

Ok, I'm a "newbie" but.... I think I did 5 extract batches before I did my first AG just a couple of weeks ago. I felt as if I were taking shortcuts with the extract that could potentially contribute to an inferior final product. Being new to homebrewing I have no real justification for...

    Odell 5-Barrel Recipe?

Anyone have a recipe for this that they've tried and feel is close? BYO magazine shows that they had a recipe for it in Sept. 07 issue, but when I go to buy that backorder they don't list it. I'll drop them an email tomorrow to see if they really don't have it or if it's that new-fangled...

    Label Removal Thread

I've had pretty good luck with just hot water and stainless steel brillo type pad. Left Hand Brewing bottles are the exception. Love their beer, hate their glue. :drunk:
