    Camping beer?

I do a fair amount of camping, and sessionable wheat beers are my favorites to take. 21A Hell or High Watermelon is probably my favorite warm-weather camping beer - I just started home brewing, so I always look for something good that's available canned.

    Low Alcohol Fruit Wheat Beer

Your points are well taken. Thank you. We're fully aware of the dangers. And when I said "that she doesn't feel guilty about drinking," I should have said, "that we don't feel endangers our child's development." There are studies that indicate light (not moderate, but light, as in a beer once...

    Low Alcohol Fruit Wheat Beer

I want to work on a low ABV (1.5%-2%) extract version of SA Blackberry Witbier. My wife loves the stuff, and we're trying to get pregnant. When (if) we succeed, she's going to want something every now and then to satisfy her beer craving that she doesn't feel guilty about drinking. Fruit beers...

I'm pretty sure that won't change how many days they meet, just what will be the last day they meet, changing the last meeting day from Tuesday to Wednesday.

I just sent the following missive to as many rules committee members as I could find email addresses for, as well as pasted into Senator Orr's "contact me" form on his website (committee members can be found here: Dear Senator: As an Alabama resident and voter, I am writing you today in your...

Does the rules committee set the calendar? Is there someone(s) we should contact on that committee to try to get inclusion?

    Full boils with extract kits?

I did my first batch about 3 weeks ago, and it was a full boil using a kit with partial boil instructions. Based on what I'd read, I dialed the hops down (used Beersmith to figure the amount), and added all the LME at the beginning. I don't think late additions are necessary when doing full boil.

    First time bottling setup

Thanks for posting. I, too, have bottled two Mr Beer batches, and will be bottling my first 5 gallon batch this weekend. Been reading a lot, and was thinking of doing the same basic setup, only I didn't think about the drip pan. Makes sense, of course!

Chest Freezer Size and Temp Control

I'm still new at this - I've got my first 5 gallon batch fermenting now, so I'm no expert. That said, I've got a chest freezer in an out-building that's not climate controlled, also. I bought this temp controller and this small heater. After all, I'm going to want to brew during the winter as...

    Seriously...

The beerfly section is decent to give me a few options for places to check out when I'm in a city I've never visited.

Chest Freezer Fermentation Chamber - Am I On The Right Track?

I agree. But a space heater, heat lamps, whatever, in a closed space with a bunch of liquid?

So, a nice side effect will hopefully be the commercial sale of mead in AL. Sweet! (No seriously - sweet. Like, mead isn't sour. Hahaha. :o) I just emailed Jay Love. I'll call tomorrow morning.

Isn't it legal to make wine at home in MS?

    Alabama vote.

Also, there was a homebrewer in Alabama a couple of years ago who had a run in with the law. I don't know if he's the same one you're talking about or not. The L.A. Times did a story about a local home brewing club, their fight to change the law, and ran it with a picture of some of the guys...

I'm new to homebrewing, but I've been following Alabama beer laws and attempts to change them for about five years (Free The Hops!). There is a section of Alabama law that defines what beer is, what wine is, what fortified wine is, etc. There is no provision for mead, or for any alcohol...

Chest Freezer Fermentation Chamber - Am I On The Right Track?

I got home and checked a few things... The Good: I plugged the freezer in, and it's still working great. The Bad: The outlet I want to use is NOT protected by the GFCI outlet. The Ugly: The ground part of the freezer plug is missing - either torn off or pulled off so that it could plug into...

Chest Freezer Fermentation Chamber - Am I On The Right Track?

If they're both on the same leg, a fault on the outlet I'm using will trip the GFCI. I'll test it this evening to be sure - if my outlet is protected, it will loose power when I press the TEST button. Thanks for the tips!
