How long to dry hop in the secondary?

I used a bag to hold my dry hop addition so I don't know what works best but I was thinking that the transfer to bottling bucket would work putting a bag at the end of the hose in the bucket. You would need to sterilize the bag but that would give an element of filtration that might not clog as...

How long to dry hop in the secondary?

After reading this I wonder what my beer will turn out like. I made a Citra pale ale that after 7 days in the primary I added 3 oz of Mosaic hops to dry hop it. I was advised that 2 wks would be a little short prior to bottling so I transferred it to a secondary w/o the Mosaic hops and it has...

    Female Homebrewers??

I know 2 women that took home brewing to the professional level. They bought a building that was previously owned by a local brewery and opened it up again as Third Wave Brewing in DelMar DE. They make some really good beer and run a great place.

How will this affect my beer?

That was my plan all along:). I didn't think there would be bad results , was just curious. There is so much to learn ( this is my 3rd brew) that anytime I make a mistake I try to learn from it The site is really full of great info and knowledgeable folks willing to help. Thanks! :rockin:

How will this affect my beer?

I brewed an extract kit of Dogfish Head's Dark Star Licorice Stout on Monday evening. As per the instructions, I added the DME just as the water was about to boil. The kit called for 8 lbs of dark dry malt and 1 lb of light dry malt. Well I guess I misplaced the light dry malt and only added...

    Couple of questions before bottling

What about the fact that I have moved the beer to a secondary w/o the hops that was added for dry hopping? Is there going to be a big loss of the flavor/aroma? The dry hop addition was done on day 7 after brewing and was there for 7 days before I moved it. I know this is abnormal for the process...

    Couple of questions before bottling

A bit long but.....I have a batch of Citra pale ale that I dry hopped after being in the primary a week. I was planning to leave it in the primary until bottling but I have another kit to brew so I decided to move it to a carboy. When I did that I didn't move the hop bag with it. I will be ready...

Looking for Evolution's Lucky 7 Porter recipe

Went to the brewery today. My friend said he would talk to the brewmaster about getting a scale down recipe for both beers. I can tell you that you chose the right yeast. He told me that was the one they use.

Looking for Evolution's Lucky 7 Porter recipe

I may be visiting the brewery this weekend. If so , maybe I can get some help. I have a friend that works in the brewery itself. He's the guy adding the hops in the picture on their website. If I can I want to try to do a Lot 3 clone. Mine would be extract as I am only 2 batches in to this fun...

    Cold Crashing?????

It seems as though this keeps getting tracked toward those who keg but I bottle. Would I have been better letting the batch set in the primary for 2 wks prior to adding the dry hop addition? This would give me a 3 wk time period prior to bottling. Would this be the better plan for the next time...

    Cold Crashing?????

That sounds like a good plan. I know I planned on 3 weeks minimum in the bottle before trying it so a little longer isn't an issue. I need to brew again soon to keep building my pipeline anyway so the waiting is just part of the game.:mug:

    Cold Crashing?????

Are you referring to the kits target OG of 1.075 or the OG I read of 1.064? I am certainly not trying to be in a hurry. I am looking forward to trying this but only when it is ready. Will the hops I added last Sunday be in there too long if I wait another week or maybe I should rack it to a...

    Cold Crashing?????

So it is done more when kegging than bottling? My beer has been in my primary for what will be 2 wks on Sunday. I'm guessing the SG will be good come Sunday as the FG the kit was targeting is 1.021. If my SG is still the same as the last I'm understanding that it is done fermenting and ready to...

    Cold Crashing?????

I've been seeing the process " cold crashing" mentioned a lot here and am unclear about what it means. Tried to search but couldn't get an understanding of its purpose. I am currently dry hopping a Citra pale ale. I forgot to add the irish moss to help clear it. When I added the hops for dry...
