Double IPA Lawson’s Double Sunshine IPA

Had this one in the keg for a month now and it's still pouring fantastic. Aroma has dropped a little but the flavors have rounded out and that Citra really shines with such a great malt backbone. Definitely going to rebrew this one for the summer.

American Pale Ale Carton Boat Session Ale clone

Thanks for the temp info. I'll probably start lower but then bump up later to around that temp. Actually I'm over on the west coast so haven't had the chance to try Carton's stuff just heard about them. I mainly was looking for something that was lower ABV and I havent tried a Kolsch yeast so I...

American Pale Ale Carton Boat Session Ale clone

Thanks for sharing! The plan is to brew this on the weekend. I tweaked my recipe some too. I've never had Boat but it sounds good so I'm going for a sudo clone\tweaked to my own tastes. I'll make sure to post my results as well. One question I did have is what temp did you ferment at? Batch...

American Wheat Beer Orange American Wheat

A good place to start with water treatment is Bru 'n Water. Its a spreadsheet that will greatly help out with getting your desired water profile. It can be a little daunting at first but its simple enough once you mess with it. Lots of info out there plus you can always ask here. The 5.2...

Double IPA Lawson’s Double Sunshine IPA

Got this one transferred and kegged. Force carbed for a day and then set at serving pressure for most of today. After the first mini pour and letting it settle WOW. Aroma is awesome. So much tropical, pineapple citrus on the nose from the Citra. Great beer so far.

New England IPA "Northeast" style IPA

What yeast did you use? 1318 definitely has a chili bite to it when you first keg to me anyway. It will go away eventually. First few pours will probably have it the most since they are normally extra yeasty.

American IPA Trilium Melcher Street Clone

I agree you'll want to keep your target temp stable during active fermentation. Once things start slowing down thats when I normally start bumping up the temp slowly. Helps with getting better attenuation and also rouses the yeast so it continues to clean up after itself to get rid of off flavors.

Brewing Instructions for Bell's All Grain Hopslam Kit

Yeah it was a little trial and error for IBU's using info from an older thread where someone emailed Bells. This is the information about the hopping. "Hopping is trickier, but I can tell you that we use a blend of modern American high-alpha aroma hops. I won't say that your exact choice of...

Brewing Instructions for Bell's All Grain Hopslam Kit

With a OG this high I would absolutely recommend a starter if you can. That way you can overbuild your yeast to a recommended pitch rate. You can also just buy additional packs but I'd want to use 3 packs for that high of OG. Its really a matter of cost and time you want to put into it. I'd...

Brewing Instructions for Bell's All Grain Hopslam Kit

I took a crack at the hop additions. I used what you gave and assumed 5 gallon batch size and an OG of 1.090 to get that 10% ABV. Would tweak the whirlpool times and maybe move around the aroma hops depending on what AA% Im dealing with. I've read Hopslam is supposed to be in the upper 60's for...

New England IPA "Northeast" style IPA

I'm happy to report I'm fairly satisfied with finally being able to brew this style. Like others Ive had issues but I finally got a closed transfer set up for kegging that works. Things went great and I was feeling pretty confident the batch should turn out. A few days after force carbing the...

American Pale Ale Carton Boat Session Ale clone

Thanks for bumping this post. It looks like it could be a real nice session beer. I put the info Beersmith and got it similar to what Carton posts on their site. Probably would skip the late addition hops for a whirlpool\hopstand. Also thinking about cranking up the dry hop some too.

Double IPA Lawson’s Double Sunshine IPA

I have a batch of this fermenting right now. I used the recipe in Zymurgy as my base and it seems pretty close to this one. Only difference I had to make was to sub out the Columbus for some Apollo. Was really interested in how the large amounts of whirlpool hops would turn out. I did a standard...

American IPA Trilium Melcher Street Clone

Thanks for tips! Transfer went great with the filter. Still didn't get quite as much beer out of the fermentor as I hoped but I think I figured out what my problem was. I tested it out on a different NE IPA recipe I came up with that had less dry hopping then this one and never had it clog. It...

American IPA Trilium Melcher Street Clone

About to transfer my beer tomorrow and was wondering how that hop filter from arbor fab that was mentioned worked for you guys. I went ahead and got one because of the crazy amount of hops these styles require. Normally I cold crash to help with it but Im going to forgo it this time. Don’t want...
