can't stress how much i love my scale!

It can't be that much of a leak, the 20 lb tank was in use for at least 2 months already and carbed and served 4 kegs, and the tank still has tons left. Not sure exactly how much, I plan on weighing the tank later today to find out (plus to get a weight of regulator to subtract off future...

can't stress how much i love my scale!

No. If I shut off the tank, but the reg outlet valve is open and the manifold valves are all shut then the HP gauge drops to zero in a couple days. If I shut off the tank, but the reg outlet valve is closed then the HP gauge only dropped by maybe 20 psi in three days. In other words, my...

    Stopping fermentation part way through

Fridge may work, but sulfate and sorbate won't stop an active fermentation on there own, so you can't just toss it in. You can also ferment dry, then sulfate and sorbate and add juice to dilute and sweeten. This would probably be the easiest path. Both of these would be still ciders only, not...

Mixing in unfermented cider before bottling?

I assume you added sugar to the juice before fermenting to increase the ABV? If so, you don't have to hope on the final ABV. Cider regularly ferments out to somewhere around 1.000, plus or minus a couple points based on yeast and maybe juice used. So you can measure your IG and calculate an...

    Convert a commercial keg?

I've never used one, but here's a video I found on how to remove the spear. There's various options for converting the Sanke to either ball lock or MFL, just google "Sanke to ball lock" (or pin lock depending on your current setup).

    Keezer cycling question

What freezer model do you have, and how old is it? Also what's the approximate average external temp?

Surface molds growing in raw wild cider

A better way of saying that is that fermenting in a closed vessel will produce enough CO2 to flush (almost) all O2 from the headspace, and an airlock will keep O2 from coming back in.

Surface molds growing in raw wild cider

Everything I've read says mold = dump, sorry.

    Hard cider

Hmm. Does this perhaps mean the taste of yeast? I've made only a few batches so far, with store bought juice. None had secondary, but they tasted more like a white wine. Definitely not like beer at all. But I let them sit 1+ months so that it had a chance to clear up. If you remove it too soon...

Infection in Secondary - Tried to Repitch

This is mostly advise for next time, I'm too much of a noobie myself to offer suggestions on how to save this batch. Hopefully someone more knowledgeable will come along with some suggestions on possible ways to save this batch. I'm currently reading How to Brew to learn more on the beer side...

    Regulator Thread

Sure does! Maybe in general. For example at work we have hydrogen (very flammable) that has a left hand CGA. But we also have SF6, which is non flammable, and also has a left hand CGA fitting. They aren't compatible though, the hydrogen uses an inner thread on the regulator CHA nut while the...

how to get high abv beer with this method

Just curious, if your country's customs finds this, will you get in trouble or will it just be confiscated?

    Regulator Thread

I have a different model Kegco regulator, but it has right hand threads.

how to get high abv beer with this method

I've made cider with store bought apple juice (cart full of apple juice lol). I think a saying I found here is applicable, it's the "bud light of ciders." In short, my store bought juice cider is quite drinkable but not what I'd consider great or even good. Tastes more like a white wine...

A Sparge Water acidification experiment gone awry

So a) I'm not a chemistry guy and b) I'm a complete beer noobie but I am currently stuck in bed, and ran across this. I see you are assuming softening won't change alkalinity, but you don't have just a softener, you have an oxidizer too. What does this do? I did a quick Google search and found...

OG too high for refractometer... Advice needed

Yes, I want my flowmeter to output a stream of pulses instead of displaying gpm or lpm. And I want my gas tank in the car to display the height of the gas in the tank in rather than a scale from full to empty... :p In all seriousness though, a quick search showed that you can get handheld...

can't stress how much i love my scale!

With the valve on the outlet of the reg shut, the HP gauge dropped ~20 psi over three days. With that valve open but all my manifold valves shut, the HP gauge drops to zero in 2-3 days. How many oz are your pours?

can't stress how much i love my scale!

Follow up. @bracconiere your idea was good. With the valve on the regulator shut, over three days the pressure dropped by maybe 20 psi (verified by noting pressure on gauge then blipping bottle valve open and closed again to "top off" the reg). So my leak is after the reg. Unless it's just...

Ah, I'm imagining an attached garage. That makes sense now.

    serving at room temp

If you have a temp controller with both cooling and heating control could you not use a light bulb and maintain the appropriate temp over the chilly season? Suppose faucets freezing may still be an issue.
