This is an excerpt from an email exchange i had with GF. They asked for the numbers on the back of my box. This is as of three days ago. The problem being unless im monitoring the plug constantly... ill never know if its getting hot to the touch and I shouldnt have to constantly be checking...

That was my conclusion as well. While it made a difference to temps I have zero idea of this will increase longevity or prevent any issues. Was just proof of concept if it in fact actually did lower temps there. Thanks for watching it though. Appreciate it.

I went through the shop I ordered it through. Didn’t have to deal with GF themselves.

If you can’t unplug it. Means the control box is toast possibly the Grainfather itself. I had to use a screw driver to pry my plug out.

So with grainfather connects committing electrical seppuku and melting themselves into the control box. I decided to try something new. Grainfather states they have solved the issues with the recepticle, but there is no way to tell if you have this updated part or not. I got bored one brewday...

Ive had more luck not having the bottom overflow pipe on and having just the bottom perf plate and sliding that in vertically and doing the wiggle dance then putting the bottom pipe back on once its in. just easier. frankly ill weld the little turd in at some point.

It will not do so automatically. You will have to do manual boil power control in the settings and turn it down yourself. It applies 100% power regardless of any additional heat.

Yes this is a common problem with the connect box. Grainfather says its been fixed, but... who knows. The cheap garbage outlet on the box cant handle the load from the element and would melt it into it. Contact GF and they will replace. Its a known issue by them. They will sort you out.

Schenn continues to make this trade (regardless of the two first round picks we gave up too) look like an insane deal so far. Schenn has more goals than Lehtera has taken shots this season i think. Beats gaining 0 points at least though.
