Volume Sensing - What are You using

;) I have only purchased 1/7 of the parts for this project. The scope (and cost) keep increasing. Putting the flow meter on my project list!

Parts shopping sucks! Is this the right part?

No :(. Something similar to THIS is what you want. KAL uses an adjustable power supply in his build, this should work as well with less fiddling.

PLC - Touchscreen Control Panel (TEB Based)

It's been 3 days so I can bump myself :). I will be drilling and mounting the receptacles, and then painting the enclosures soon. I also got a free 4/6 dryer cord from mom!! I also want to admit a goof. THHN was used inside the panel, this was a lapse on my part. THHN should be used in conduit...

Volume Sensing - What are You using

I know. :cross: I keep seeing these on your build, and I am very familiar with programming them (HART). Do you know what applications they were usually used for? I will setup an alert... this is definitely the best solution. How did you calibrate SG on yours? Distilled water?

Volume Sensing - What are You using

Solid. We used similar setups to fill our massive reactors at my old job. What is the model number of the Omega sensor you are using? Cost? What sort of IO requirement for it? Long and short of it: I need a flow meter for my system ;)

    Transparent Brew Panel

As a PC modder, this made my heart smile!

Thoughts on a New Brew system

Well as schematix mentioned, CIP should be considered HEAVILY for hard plumbing. My system is powered by a Micrologix1200 (24I,16O,2AI,2AO). Temperature control is done through PID loops in the PLC. I am also using a 1761-NET-ENI with a cheap WiFi bridge to get the PLC on the network. HMI is...

Thoughts on a New Brew system

I will do most of this with my hoses :).

Thoughts on a New Brew system

#3 Oh, I mean that hard plumbing isn't coming in for years. I plan on working out CIP before I pipe in. And after looking at your PID I might just borrow your ideas :) I will be okay with hoses indefinitely :)

    250v vs 125/250v plugs

These are voltage ratings. This means that the connector will safely isolate 250V between connectors. More voltage would cause a short, and then **** would get real :drunk:! So if your Voltage is less than or equal to the rating, it will work. You could use these with 24VDC, 5VDC, 88VAC, etc.

Thoughts on a New Brew system

I meant to put it there. But I revised too fast! More valves? I tried to be consitent with the flow path following kals diagram. The flow paths and sequence can be seen HERE :). The two manual valves at the pump outlets are for flow control. The manual valves on the vessels are for monetary...

Thoughts on a New Brew system

Also, Heres a link to my P&ID. I'm not a ME or ChemE but here ya go. LINK This is based off KALs layout at www.TheElectricBrewery.com. If you check his Brewday: Step by Step you can see how he plumbs his hoses. I just tried my best to hard plumb it with valves. PLCS and automation...

PLC - Touchscreen Control Panel (TEB Based)

Edited the logic last night. Added PID loops, analog I/O scaling. All that's left is scaling the SP from the HMI to the PID

PLC - Touchscreen Control Panel (TEB Based)

My thoughts exactly. I have a 1762-IF2OF2 card with 2AI, and 2AO. Will work neatly to control the temperature of two vessels!

PLC - Touchscreen Control Panel (TEB Based)

I need some suggestions. I have some faults with using the PLC to control the SSR directly. My SSRs are SSR-40DA, so I would need to pull 24VDC into the PLC and switch it. I think the contactors (plc has relay outputs) may we wear out if I am using a 2s time period. My current idea is to use...

    eHerm Control System for Geeks?

Agreed. I have had a blast designing mine and the build process continues to entertain.:rockin:

    eHerm Control System for Geeks?

Check out ClaudiusB, BigBlock, trimixdiver1, Plc-Guy, kladue etc. You can even peep my post history ;). Those are all GREAT examples of automated breweries!

PLC - Touchscreen Control Panel (TEB Based)

Another shameless self bump. The HMI is roughly working. I still need to add in the analog elements, regarding temperature control. The program works as expected, though my logic is not completed. I also had to strip some of the fancier stuff due to some bugs with MicroLogix and the AdvancedHMI...

Thoughts on a New Brew system

Why reinvent the wheel? Your diagram does not suck, persay. I see where you are going even though this is not a formal P&ID. I assume you are direct fired? What I would do is stick to a Kal style setup. Buy two pumps, designated for Water and wort respectively. Thats about the only changes I...
