    Hoppy/Coffee/Oak RIS

One more question...yeast. I have seen multiple places saying different yeasts can be used. What is your preferred? Irish ale? American ale?

    American IPA Critique

Looks amazing to me...love your hop varieties and combinations. The only change i might do is switch the mount hood and the first simcoe addition. I just love the taste of simcoe i would want as much of that as possible. But that is merely personal preference.

    Hoppy/Coffee/Oak RIS

Hey all! Like many around here...thinking of doing a RIS stout really soon so to have it ready during the cold months. I am a HUGE fan of both coffee RIS and really hoppy RIS (Sweetwater Happy Ending, Mikkeller Hop Geek Breakfast). So my plan is to brew this beer, do primary for about a month...

    Double IPA

My usual process is about a week in the primary, rack to secondary for an additional 7-10 days, then dry hop for 10 days. After that, bottle. My beers so far using this pattern have been outstanding and beyond my expectations.

    When We Getting Nelson Hops??

I had heard that the harvest for Nelson Sauvin hops was either late may and/or into June, so I am getting impatient. Is there any way to find out more precisely when they will hit the market than just trying to check back at your favorite spots over and over?

    First Brew Tomorrow!

Congrats on joining this great hobby! I am fairly new myself, and the best advice I have is to sanitize like a madman and most of the time the answer to any worry is PATIENCE!

Moving and HAVE to take my primary along...help!

Well this has been more than helpful. I went ahead and dry hopped today and I will more than likely bottle before I move next week. Sounds like a corny would be a good investment in the near future but will have to wait a bit bc of moving expenses.

Moving and HAVE to take my primary along...help!

So another part of the equation...it's really more of an Imperial black ipa...OG about 1.085. So I'm worried about it really being vey done at the almost three week mark. More thoughts? Thanks all!

Moving and HAVE to take my primary along...help!

Thanks for the replies everyone! The problem with bottling it (I do not keg yet) is that I wanted to dry hop it for about 10 days before I bottled it. Maybe I can rack to secondary and dry hop it today and bottle on Friday or Saturday next week (I move on Saturday). Transporting I think would...

Moving and HAVE to take my primary along...help!

Has anyone had to do this before? I just didnt think through the timing and I have a Black IPA in the primary and I have to move next weekend. It will have been in the primary for almost two and a half weeks, and I'm really worried about too much sloshing. I know that it probably wont ruin it...

    Wildly Missed OG! What Happened?

So today i tried my first attempt at a black IPA. It was an extract batch with steeping grains. Also, it was a partial boil, which i know is less than ideal. The extracts/grains/sugars used were: 9# DME .5# Carapils .5# Crystal 10L .25# Black Patent .25# Honey I was going for a big...

    the apartment brewer

Also, living in the south, I have a lot of trouble keeping my fermenters cool enough without killing my electric bill. Is there a cost effective way to keep things cool?

    the apartment brewer

Another apartment brewer! In college, married, with an English Mastiff (155lb dog) in a one bedroom apartment. I stick to extracts and partial mashes with partial boils. Space is CONSTANTLY an issue, and the lady friend hates all the room my beer stuff (equipment, supplies, fermenters, bottles)...

    Taste of primary fermentation

Any updates on the progress? I have two beers conditioning for my graduation party. I have a DIPA and a Belgian Wit. I have tried the DIPA after 3 weeks in the bottle and it is simply sublime. The belgian has been in for a week and am crossing my fingers itll turn out.
