I am thinking about making a dorm fridge style chamber for fermenting in a detached garage in PA. My question is: Will ambient temparture stay warm enough using some type of thermostat control device in the cold winter months, if so can anyone recommend what type of device I should look for?

I am in the process of my first ever brew ( northern brewer irish red extract) I wanted to hear everyone's opinion on the secondary. I have heard many mixed reviews. Will it really clean my beer up that much? Or is the risk of infection not worth the reward? Thanks for any advice!
