    Why do people Quit brewing?

If we start a thread of "Why do people quit telling others that they brew?" for me it will be getting questions like ..... Hey you brew beer? Have you ever considered making a beer with tangerine and cinnamon? I had one of those at ______ and really liked it. No I have not considered that.

    Why do people Quit brewing?

I'm still really a newbie (approaching 1 year in a few weeks) but I've actually had this question in the back of my mind. At first it was the time commitment. I do really enjoy brewing, but it is time consuming and during the last year got in the way of a couple other hobbies. My brew...

    Beer secondary - Yellow dot/spec

I definitely wouldn't give up on it yet. Like micraftbeer said just watch and see what happens. Side question though what was the reasoning for using a secondary? For the most part I would avoid using a secondary unless the style really required it (usually because it's a beer that needs a...

New England IPA "Northeast" style IPA

i would (and I think most) cold crash the beer before transferring and the hops should mostly settle out. I also use a floating dip tube during transfers so I’m drawing off the top and not getting the stuff that settled out

New England IPA "Northeast" style IPA

I've got a ferm tank TC - 6 psi limit - so will have to stay a bit lower than yours. Seems like that means just hit is a bit longer since it's probably more about flow than pressure. I do have a bit of concern on the yeast. I've used the conical once and dumping yeast was challenging. Have...

New England IPA "Northeast" style IPA

Hop rousing question - In the past all my hazies were dry hopped in a keg so to rouse hops any time I was near the keg I would shake it a few times. I have trouble keeping these beers on tap so got a conical planning to get a full 5 gallons in my serving keg vs the 4.5 ish I was getting...

    Economical Brewing

When we post costs I feel like we need to add some info on the beer. There’s beers I can do $40-50 for a 10 gallon batch but no way if it’s a high abv really hoppy beer

What came in the mail for you today?

Well I haven’t got the 220 installed either and Spike did say they should be in stock soon. Worst case their might be one brew without. I’m off work between Christmas and New Years and going to be tough to resist doing one batch in that time

    Regulator question about leaking

Good point - I should have thought of that since I have those in my keezer (well red ones, yellow are liquid).

Man I'm trying to accelerate that payback as much as I can. Should I track medical bills and ibuprofen in miscellaneous as well?

    Regulator question about leaking

That’s funny how well that pipe connection lined up with the basket on the floor. I don’t think you could have lined that up better with that and the second tank if you tried As long as the second knob is turned all the way in you should be fine. Note the Duotight isn’t really a quick...

    Regulator question about leaking

That looks more like two separate single regulators than a dual regulator. The smaller tank on the left is that air line hooked up to anything? Is the regulator knob turned all the way closed? If that air line isn't connected to a keg I would just shut that tank off with the main shut off...

    Economical Brewing

Do you put those items into Brewfather as misc ingredients? I do track cost somewhat losely but I miss a lot things like the ones you mentioned. I do keep (again loosely) track of "capital costs" which is mainly equipment but if I buy more Star San I usually list it there (often forget). In...

    Regulator question about leaking

I'm assuming it's closed in which case no it shouldn't be. Not familiar with the exact regulator you are using so not sure if there is shutoff or if you just close the regulating valve, but if either are closed it shouldn't be leaking. If the non attached regulating valve was open (set to...

What came in the mail for you today?

Brew Easy system arrived. Not the most exciting picture, but exciting delivery. Just in time two I think I have three kegs not far from kicking and I really didn't wanted my last garage brew to be my last. Welcome to indoors. Just need to get it together and still need to install a 220...
