    Creating Tap Handle Labels

I think I'm going to try to make my own tap handles. So I think getting the proper size will be the most difficult part in creating the label. But I don't think that will be too difficult if I can actually set the dimensions within the program I'm using. Anybody ever done this themselves??

    Creating Tap Handle Labels

Can someone recommend a good way for me to design some labels for custom made tap handles?? I ask because I don't have PhotoShop. I'm good with a computer, but I've never done any kind of image editing or such, so any advice would be greatly appreciated!!

    Advice on brewing small batches...?

So I'm getting married in July, and I was thinking about what I would get my groomsmen for the wedding. Here's my thoughts...I would brew each one of them some of their favorite kind of beer (IPA, Belgian Wheat, Amber, etc.), give them anywhere from 12-24 bottles of it, and also build them...

    Cider Won't Carbonate?!

I might have to try the rush carb technique. I was hoping to be able to drink/serve some of it for New Year's Eve. What's the reason for it taking longer than regular beer to force carbonate? Is it the higher alcohol content?!

    Cider Won't Carbonate?!

I put together a cider about 4 weeks ago and just kegged it on Wednesday night. To put it into perspective, it basically just consisted of apple juice, sugar, water, and honey (to increase the ABV). After 4 weeks of fermenting, I back-sweetened it with 2 cans of apple juice concentrate and...

    Adding Honey To Increase ABV

As you might have read in one of my earlier posts, I went ahead and kegged the cider yesterday... It was backsweetened with 2 cans of frozen apple juice concentrate, and for added flavor I added some artificial raspberry flavoring. I tasted it after that and it tasted really good. Even my...

    Adding Honey To Increase ABV

My LHBS suggested backsweetening with frozen concentrate, and it was simple enough just letting the cans melt and pouring it in without having to measure anything, so that's what I did. Luckily, I didn't end up bottling, so once I got it into my keg, it was immediately put into my kegerator...

    Adding Honey To Increase ABV

I kegged the whole batch yesterday. Correct me if I'm wrong, but doesn't the yeast kind of quit working once the temperature is lowered to a certain amount? As soon as I got it in the keg and backsweetened, I put it in my kegerator and I've been forcing Co2 into it.

    Adding Honey To Increase ABV

I expect it to be very dry and I'm guessing it will be somewhere around 10% ABV. My plan was to backsweeten it with one or two cans of frozen apple juice concentrate, and I'm also going to add some acid blend to add a little bit of tart.

    Adding Honey To Increase ABV

Basically I threw together some apple juice, apple juice concentrate, some other juice concentrate, sugar, water, and then honey. Once all of it was mixed together very well, I pitched the yeast. And it started fermenting very rapidly (based on the airlock) in just about 24 hours, or a little...

    Adding Honey To Increase ABV

My LHBS gave me some info on how to make cider. In there info it said that honey could be added to the cider at the beginning of the primary fermentation to increase the alcohol content, and it had a table that laid out how much the alcohol would increase depending on how much honey was added...

Beer Styles/Types to brew right NOW

I'm fairly new to brewing and basically I'm going to brew my next batch probably within the next 3-4 weeks or so. Here's my question... If I'm going to brew towards the end of January, what kind of beer should I do? I guess what I'm looking for are recommendations...based on the season, when...

    Carbonation Help Wanted

By bulk prime you mean using priming sugar before I bottle, right? I just brewed a batch last night and I'm planning on bottling the whole batch because it is for my fiance' and she won't drink it fast enough for me to keg it. You don't think I'll have any issues with it over-carbonating if I'm...

    Carbonation Help Wanted

I've read quite a few reviews on the Brewer's Best tablets, most of which said that typically you need at least 6 per bottle. But, I went with them anyways because my LHBS recommended them. You said that it's possible for the beer to over-carb. Is it less likely for a beer to over-carb if...

    Carbonation Help Wanted

With my first two batches of home brew, I bottled 12 of each and kegged the rest. Since I was splitting up the batches, it would've been difficult for me to measure out the proper amount of priming sugar for just 12 bottles. Because of that, I went with Brewer's Best conditioning tablets. Here's...

    First Cider Attempt....here goes nothin

How long has your cider been fermenting? After checking my batch less than 48 hours later, it had already gone from 1.070 to 1.060. So I'm wondering how long it will take to get down to about 1.000 or slightly lower.

    Air Lock Not Fitting Right?

One thing that a lot of friends have been telling me is don't rely on the airlock activity to determine if fermentation is occurring. I learned this on my first batch. I actually let it sit for about 2 weeks before testing the gravity, and then after a third week of no airlock activity, I tested...

    Air Lock Not Fitting Right?

Any clue where I can find those grommets? If you are correct on their being two different sizes of grommets depending on the airlock, then I wouldn't mind getting a grommet that will fit my "S"type 1 piece airlock. Thanks!!

    Air Lock Not Fitting Right?

Can those grommets be replaced?? I don't know how old the bucket is exactly, but maybe the grommet has taken some wear from not being used and sitting in the garage for a few years during Indiana winters.

    First Cider Attempt....here goes nothin

Well on Sunday I whipped up my first batch of cider and now I'm just trying to patiently wait for it to ferment. Looking here on the forums, I found a lot of good ideas about what kinds of ingredients to use and such, but I wanted to keep my first one pretty basic. That way, if I screw it up...
