Corona Mill or Pasta Maker Mill

Cincy, this is a whole lot of help. I think this is the best way to go. Let it sit for a while after i washed and burned it, then pass some (cheap) rice through the mill to clear it out. Sounds like a plan. Happy brewing to ya and thanks for the info.

Any brewers in the Bristow/Manassas Va area?

Im sure it ll be just fine, then again there is only one way to find out... ;)

    American IPA Stone Ruination Clone

Scott, you are gentleman and a scholar. I ll try and make it on the 11th. Victory lakes right? As for the bulk buys you can totally count me in. I just got me a Rahr 50-pounder but you just cant have too much base malt, so bulk buy it is. Cool, other than that I got brews to bring along...

    American IPA Stone Ruination Clone

Sound promising vegan, mine needs 2 more days dry hopping and then Bottling! Also, let me ask you, how long did you dry hop for? Thanks and happy brewing to ya.

Corona Mill or Pasta Maker Mill

I didnt notice that to be honest with ya. I left it back at my girls house but I will be checking that out when I get back there on Wed. So you think it might be the pad, that sounds much safer than the mill itself being coated with petrol. Wilser, did you notice the silver-like paint? Is...

Corona Mill or Pasta Maker Mill

Got the mill home. I was overwhelmed by the massive smell of petrol as soon as I opened the box. Sunk it in hot very soapy water and washed it with a sponge. Placed in a 350 F oven for 30 min and by the time I packed it away till the first grind it still smelled like petrol. Any suggestions...

Can you Brew It recipe for Stone Arrogant Bastard

I too think A.B is more in the higher IBUs than we have been makin it. My last attempt was 76 IBUs and though a great brew, it was no A.B. My next attempt(s) are gonna include one more hop addition: 90, 60, 30, 15, 0 & dry hop. All equal quantities and all Chinook for about 100 IBUs total...

Corona Mill or Pasta Maker Mill

Well said, I have been sparging with ever less warm water as we get toward the end but it is good to know that ph is a function of sugars in the grain. The info is much appreciated. Happy brewing to you all.

Corona Mill or Pasta Maker Mill

Cincy, I think I have been convinced, I too will now unleash hell on all BIAB brews in the name of efficiency! Looking forward to 80% efficiency doing this and using the new mill. Yet, I am near certain that I can not only taste the tannins in the final runnings if i over sparge, but...

Can you Brew It recipe for Stone Arrogant Bastard

Love this experiment you did. But this means back to drawing board for me! Hmm... single specialty and single hop, just as A.B should be. Gotta make the three little bastards. First one is special B.

Corona Mill or Pasta Maker Mill

Cincy, seems like you are on the right track mate, with the exception of the squeezing which can be avoided IMO. Other than that as long as you get the efficiency you want (grain bill provided) then you are good to go. Happy brewing to ya!

Corona Mill or Pasta Maker Mill

Thanks Stan, I cant wait to get it home and start milling big time. I think I can some really decent efficiency with it (~75% ). Also, Cincydave, I do exactly what Stan said above. Actually I think it is the most ingenious method of mashing, period: BIAB plus sparging. However I do not...

Can you Brew It recipe for Stone Arrogant Bastard

Yup I think you are right mate. Chinook for the hops and something dark but not Roasted Barley. C-150 was very promising but I am getting a lot of No's on that. Hmm perhaps Simpsons Extra Dark Crystal and I should make that one first before the C-150 or Special B Hybrid. Happy brewing to ya...

Corona Mill or Pasta Maker Mill

Sounds like i need to get me a Prago mill. Edit: I just bought the mill online from Walmart like the poster mentions above. I cant thank you enough for the input and Happy brewing to ya mate. My first brew with this grain mill, Stone's Sublimely Self Righteous Clone. Its been put off for...

    Stone XI Anniversary Clone

What the poster above said mate. I try to avoid using tailored numbers since home-brewing to me is all about making it your own. This specific batch was only a 3.5 USG and my mash was 153 since US-05 will take the final gravity "to town". If I finish at 1.014-15 i ll be happy. Here in...

Can you Brew It recipe for Stone Arrogant Bastard

I think this is the closest thing to the truth. A.B cannot just have C-60 & 75, its gotta be much darker than that, roasted even as we said before. In my mind the closest thing I have sampled to the A.B is something like a "Big" Irish Red, not an American Amber. Also, columbus hops wont do it...

    American IPA Stone Ruination Clone

Glad your brew went well mate. I cant wait for mine to be ready! Slowly dry hopping as we speak... Overall I think Stone brews TRUMP New Belgium, specially lately that they've gone extra-commercial. Its not about quantity its about quality. That said Ranger is pretty good actually but its...
