Transferring from fermenter to keg with a pump?

I bought the small cheaper diaphragm pump from northern brewer to transfer from my jack daniel's barrel for my single vessel flander's red solera into kegs, but I haven't used it yet. In my starsan test though, it looked like if there was any air in the line, it would very quickly oxidize beer...

    Show us your Kegerator

Yup, that is a 20# tank. I used to keep my 50# tank on it, but it lasted about 9 years when on serving-only duties, so now I keep the 20# there for serving duties, and use the 50# for carbing. I have two 50# tanks and five 20# tanks. I used to have a whole range of sizes all the way down to...

    Faucet to Shank Leak

when you take the faucets off, also measure the length of the splines on the faucet and on the shank with calipers if you have them. If there is a difference, it is possible that the metal is not fully engaging with the o-ring at all.

    Rehabbing my kegerator

If you want a wall-mounted primary regulator, here is a cheaper option: Taprite CO2 Management System w/ 6' High Pressure Hose: Bevco Inc. - Providing Service To Oklahoma, Texas, Arkansas & New Mexico I've been thinking about getting that for my walk-in cooler, but having the regulator on the...

Corney keg make-over, how far is too far?

How many universal poppets have you had fail on you? I've actually been gradually replacing my stock poppets with the universal ones as I have leaks, and I haven't had a leak or problem with the o-ring shearing like you've stated. I did buy some new inexpensive PRV's though, and the one I've...

You did a great job! I made simpler tap handles already using 3/4" 303 stainless hex stock, so I'm set. I appreciate it though!

I like the tap handles! Where did you get them, or did you get them custom machined?

    End of the world supply

the vittles vaults are a good option. Once I open a sack of grain, I use 5 gallon buckets with the gamma seal lids for storage. One sack is a bit more than two 5 gallon buckets, but usually I use enough that it is ok.

    End of the world supply

I typically don't worry about it much, but in the past when the sacks didn't have the inner plastic layer, I did get an infestation and had to take care of it. I haven't had any problems since then, and I still keep mine stacked in a dry place: I find that the avangard is sealed well enough...

    Adjusting psi after force carbing

The method that I have been using for years now, is when the beer is ready to be transferred from the fermenter to the keg, I look at the temperature of the fermenter, and then reference the chart with the volumes and psi. I set the regulator to that pressure, and then put the keg on its side...

    Bottling High ABV beers

Do you only bottle, or do you also have a kegging system? If you have a kegging system, you can simply force carbonate in the keg, and then counter pressure fill the bottles after full carbonation. If not, what is the ABV of the beer? Some add dry yeast to each bottle to help.

Why did you upgrade your faucets?

I like that idea! If my walk-in was closer to my RO system, I would consider doing that myself!

Why did you upgrade your faucets?

Thanks! I can understand putting that much thought into just about anything. Sometimes it isn't just about the cost, it is about the value, usefullness, fun, etc. Sometimes it is just fun to think about options and gadgets (this has led to some interesting side projects!). What is awesome is...

Why did you upgrade your faucets?

Haha, if I did that, I may not be able to get them to stop!

Why did you upgrade your faucets?

oh, I forgot to add that for fun, I bought one stainless intertap to use for RO drinking water in the garage. I just Teed off the line going upstairs to the kitchen, and used a spare stainless shank and john guest fitting. The kids really enjoy using the water tap downstairs.

Why did you upgrade your faucets?

I started when there were only rear sealing faucets available in the mass market (there were some fancy european ones, but they had different shanks, were difficult to get, and expensive...). Once ventmatic came out with their faucet, I bought those. Then there was drama with that company, so...

    End of the world supply

That is one of the best things I enjoy about this hobby, you can approach it however you want, with any inclination, and design it so that it suits you exactly. You can delve deeply into topics that you find interesting, but that others may not ever want to deal with (water chemistry comes to...

Grain miller, how important is it?

If I remember correctly, the speed does make a difference, and is one reason why just telling someone your gap setting is not sufficient in most cases other than a general idea. If you run the rollers faster, I believe you generally need a wider gap (it has been a long while since I did all this...

    End of the world supply

Haha, nope! I've just been accumulating gear for about 15 years now. I'm also paranoid about running out of anything, so I make sure to keep a good amount on hand, and when I find good deals, I buy as much as I can (this is how I ended up with around 30# of hops). My wife is also a saint for...
