Hurricane Burner isn't cutting the mustard

Am I missing something? That burner is 225 bucks and is 50k btu.. the hurricane is higher BTU and way cheaper. Sure, higher gas usage, but gas is pretty darn cheap. http://www.agrisupply.com/product.asp?pn=64494&bhcd2=1257269252

    Remedial Kegging Help

I think the problem is, those are pin lock posts... and that appears to be a ball lock fitting. Thats not going to work, you will need to get pin lock fittings. I am surprised they would send you a kit like that, did it come with any other fittings?

    Man, I love Apfelwein

Montrachet is champagne yeast.. let it sit, and that harshness will go away! I highly recommend leaving it as is for 3 months. That bulk aging will bring out the apple flavor and mellow a ton!

    Too much ginger

I am interested in doing ginger beer of sorts, as I like ginger ale and ginger beer (the non-alcoholic stuff that tastes like strong ginger ale). My concern is that the only time I've really had ginger was sliced up with sushi, and I think it tastes like soap in that format. I would hate to have...

    Brewing and Boots

I went with the /. response myself... but I usually brew in my Birkenstocks like a hippie on my back porch.

Nice article on Thomas Jefferson (and wife) as brewers - late 18th/early 19th century

Yeah, and from the sound of it, none of the process was very exact.

American Pale Ale Bee Cave Brewery Haus Pale Ale

Erm, I quoted the wrong post.. I meant to quote the one above it, asking about doing a 4 gallon boil instead of 5 gallon boil. I assumed that meant a partial boil. NOT the partial batch size (which I see no reason to do..)

    Timing for 2 wedding beers

Many people carbonate in the bottle after doing a secondary. There is still yeast in the beer, even if it appears pretty clear. I am sure others can speak more specifically on this. I have never carbbed at room temp with either method. I know it has been discussed here, however, I would hate to...

    Keeping a steady fermentation temp

Offtopic: Um.. yeah, its not cheap in the summer... I do the flat rate power bill thing so I pay the same amount year round. Comes out to ~250/mth I think. When I was not on that, I did hit 400 in the summer months.

American Pale Ale Bee Cave Brewery Haus Pale Ale

People do partial boils all the time.. so go for it! Just top up the extra water when its in the pail.

    Timing for 2 wedding beers

I live in Arizona, and during the summer I had 3 kegs in one of those huge white coolers from Costco. They only covered the bottom half of the kegs, but we sat them in shade and beer was ice cold the whole time. No block ice, just tons of regular ice. If you are going to carb at room temp, I...

    Timing for 2 wedding beers

I just did similar for my wedding (got married 10/10) so congratulations! What I would recommend, is get your beer into the kegs and let them carbonate slowly (rather then forcing it quickly at the last minute). I had mine in kegs 2 weeks before the event, and let them sit at 12psi for most of...

    Keeping a steady fermentation temp

Honestly, I don't think you really need the frozen bottles. I live in Arizona, and my house is kept at 77*. I have short tubs that I put water in, wrap the buckets/carboys in towels and dip them in the water. I dip the towels before and after work (or keep a gallon of water around and just pour...

    Broke Hydrometer

Both are also poisonious... however, I doubt the hydrometer is made from either material. My bet is that it is steal shot.
