    Condensed Beer??

What if I was to mix a 3.75 lbs Coopers Stout mix with a 3.3 lbs LME mix in only 4 gallons of water? Would the Coopers yeast be able to handle it?

    Mixing yeasts

Unfortunately, I didn't check the expiry date on the Coopers kits until I got home. They expired in December. Do you think the yeast will still be ok?

    Mixing yeasts

At U-Brew in South Orange NJ. I got Coopers Lager and Coopers Stout.

    Mixing yeasts

I just picked up a couple of Coopers kits from my local supplier, along with a Fermentis dry yeast packet. On the packet it says that 59F is the highest ideal temp, but my basement is usually in the mid to high 60s. Will it be ok to use it or should I just use the Coopers yeast that came with...

    Good Head

I've actually been getting a decent amount of head lately. When I racked my last batch to secondary, I bottled the yeasty stuff that was left below the spigot. Those are the ones that lacked head...a result of autolysis perhaps? The rest of the bottles that I got from the secondary have a...

This guy seems to have a hard-on for drycleaners.

    Let's talk global warming...

As others have stated, there is no way to know with any degree of certainty what impact (if any) we are having on the global temperate. That's unfortunate for those who support the man-made global warming theory, because the burden of proof is on them. They are the ones who want to introduce...

    Gas prices

But then who will employ the poor, wretched politicians?!
  11. R

    Gas prices

The US is not as dependent on foreign oil as some of you might think. There are some fairly large untapped reserves within US borders, and if buying foreign oil gets too expensive America will drill - frozen tundra be damned!

    Gas prices

10 percent is a normal profit for most companies. Why is it suddenly wrong when oil companies make profits? What do you propose be done about it?
  13. R

    Gas prices

Percentage-wise, oil companies don't make unreasonably large profits.

    Replacing a Dead Computer

If the most you're doing is editing pictures or watching vids then all you'll need is the most basic setup. Go back to Dell and get the $399 box without the fancy frills.

#119 - You no longer worry that farting while you brew will infect your beer.

    Gas prices

Perhaps if the price was too high it would reduce demand to such an extent that there would be less profit to be made than if prices were lower. In other words, it's better to sell 10,000,000 gallons at $3 a gallon than 6,000,000 gallons at $4 a gallon. Extremely high gas prices would also...

Back from Brooklyn: a couple of finds

You must have passed right by the Heartland Brewery in Union Square. They have a few good brews.

    Temp fluctuation

I guess I should be ok then, as the major fermentation has taken place. There hasn't been any airlock activity since then though, so I will just have to wait till I have bottled it. Thanks for the advice.

    Malt Extract longevity?

I bought a can of Brewferm Christmas from my local supplier for only 5 bucks because it was old and it turned out fine. Canned malt extract probably lasts a while.
