I've done the everyday IPA, the Irish red, chocolate maple porter, rye pa, WGD lite, simcoe IPA, the simcoe IPA but with Citra hops, and currently have their brown ale that needs to be bottled. All have been good!
Yep, you got it!
Same boil time , additions , etc.
It's obviously going to take longer to cool down tho.
Which kit?
I started with BBS kits. I eventually just bought their book. You can save $$$ by buying grain at LHBS. 5 gal cost me 35$ to 40 depending on the grain amounts.
Good luck! Let...
I did the same thing with a chocolate maple porter. Needed maple syrup, only had fake syrup . Porter prob would have tasted better with the real stuff, but, it didn't hurt anything.
You could always bottle with real syrup.
Yep. I just drop mine on top. A friend put marbles in. I can't tell a difference with methods.
Ballsy is right on about dry hop time. You will read a lot about grassy beer on here with extended dry hop times.
I think the type of hop may effect that tho, not sure tho......
I usually bottle on...
I was trying to be sneaky and make him think there were no other options :)
I started with AG. Takes more time than extract, but I've never noticed the difference since its all I've done.
Isn't AG cheaper too? Some of the extract kits I've seen are like 50$
Buy two 6.5 gal fermenters( plastic or glass). After your first brew, you will want to do a second.
Buy a ten gal pot or kettle to boil in.
Buy a turkey fryer to heat water/mash.
Buy a big igloo cool and make a mash tun.
Find two All Grain recipes.
Watch a lot of YouTube videos.

He is right!
My first 4 batches if beer were 2 gallon all grain.... Should have went straight to 5. After 7 months of brewing, I'm ready for 10 gallons!
Buy the right stuff first. Don't skimp on cost. Quality only hurts once.
I don't want to open my fermentation bucket again and risk it to grab a pic, but this morning I checked on an amber ale I brewed over the weekend. The only reason I have concern about this beer is bc it sucked in all the start San I had in the airlock. The star San was old(and I shouldn't have...
I've never done an Oktoberfest or a lager because I don't have an extra fridge, but- if I were you, I'd do some research. Ive read Oktoberfest take a few months at cold temps.
I like to think of yeast as tiny little magic fairies. I could sit forever and watch those guys swirl atound!
Oktoberfest ate usually lagers. What temp did your lit recommend for fermentation?
Maybe it's just me, but, I feel my beer clears better with leaf.
My LHBS has the nicest guys working there, but, their stock can vary....sometimes I can do whole leaf, some time it's a mix.
I think uniondr post about temp change was my issue. New batch of beer just hour old. I usually use a blow off tube for the first few days of fermentation , but my brew buddy dosnt, and he put it together .
However, it's bubbling nice now!
