    Weizenbock Recipe Critique!

Thanks a lot for all of this input! I'm definitely going to substitute the chocolate out for crystal. I am quite new to home brewing but I will take any sound advice that I can. I'm brewing this next Tuesday so hopefully it'll turn out awesome!

Funny things you've overheard about beer

Yeah that's the one I was pertaining to. I've always read/been told that lacing was from a CLEAN glass as opposed to a dirty one. I guess I should have prefaced that :) but yes, the other ones were quite humorous.

Funny things you've overheard about beer

This is from the Willamette Weeks 2013 Beer Guide. I just really hope this is sarcasm, especially coming from a beer magazine :/haha

    Imperial Russian Stout Recipe question

Thanks for the tip. I've done 10lbs before with no problems. Should I maybe substitute some dextrose for some of the DME?

Funny things you've overheard about beer

I just noticed that no one posted anything on st paddys day. Good job everyone :) way to NOT be on your computer on such a festive day. Ever overhear the classic "Those Europeans drink their beer warm." Well guess what? Most serve it at cellar temperature so you can actually taste it :)

    Imperial Russian Stout Recipe question

How does this recipe look? I'm looking to brew this next week. The grains will be steeped at 150F for 30 minutes. I'm curious how the wyeast 1728 will affect the flavor. I read about it on their website and it seems fairly promising. Any opinions on this one?

NB Chocolate Milk Stout High Final Gravity

This was not a full boil. I topped it off at the end with water..... Did you add too much water? I'm wondering why your OG was so low...

    An Almost Imperial IPA

Yeah it was 1.066 so not quite. Yeah no starter :/ malto-dextrine doesn't ferment, it just adds body. Corn sugar is fermentable though :) my last gravity reading was around 1.018.

Funny things you've overheard about beer

Pretty sure I read something similar here already, but I work in retail and was helping a couple out with some beer selections. The wife asked what the difference was between a lager and an ale. Before I could explain, the husband cut in and let her know that ales just have more hops and barley...

NB Chocolate Milk Stout High Final Gravity

Did you do a full boil or top off with water at the end? I made the silly mistake of adding 2x the amount of water to my first batch :o

    Stout Gravity

After you transfer to the secondary, my guess is that your fermentation will be quite minimal after taking it off of the yeast cake. what FG are you shooting for? And just make sure fermentation has stopped before bottling :)

    An Almost Imperial IPA

Hello everyone! I'm quite new to the homebrewing scene, but I have been reading up on it for quite some time. These forums are so awesome! Any who, I found the morebeer recipe for the extract version of Pliny and tweaked it a little based on my LHBS's availability of ingredients. I used American...
