    upright freezer mod.

21cf freezer with CF15 inside with room for accessories on the lid... but I have to chose between leg extension and sight glass or dry hopper, don't have room for both.

    upright freezer mod.

May as well build an insulated box and chil it with an AC unit and a DIY coolbot. Make it as big as you like. I've got a 21CF freezer and still wish it was taller inside.

Single Vessel Brewing System Temperature Stability

No reason the silicone tubing on these systems could not be swapped for stainless steel if hot side oxidation is your boogyman.

Spike Conical- observations and best practices

Thing about harvesting yeast from the yeast that drops is you are going to be selecting for the early floccing yeast cells. The later floccing cells that remain in suspension longer will be the ones that drive your last few points of attenuation, are more responsible for "cleaning" off flavors...

Single Vessel Brewing System Temperature Stability

OK I'm corrected you are advocating this for recirculating BIAB bag based systems too. So you would suggest a return port below the false bottom to do this. Question you show the temperature sensor in the liquid under the false bottom. Do you design your custom systems this way? I ask...

Single Vessel Brewing System Temperature Stability

Actually I thought Bobby's custom systems tend to be bag (BIAB) based not basket based. Yes he distributes basket based systems like the Spike solo but I understood his own systems are more based on that really cool false bottom he developed for use with BIAB. This thread seems to really...

Spike Conical- observations and best practices

sorry about length of the thread I think best practices is sort of a misnomer...we have seen on here there are lots of different ways to use the CF conicals. You mention you are making a NEIPA so I'm not sure what you consider important for that style (there are also many different ways people...

    Heating Pad and Probe Placement

That is a surprising level of overshoot you are documenting and I'd want to fix that for sure it it is real. Looks like your freezer got pretty hot before the heat reached the middle of your fermentor. This is more likely to happen at beginning and end of fermentation when the yeast activity...

    Dream Car! PICTURES!!!

I'd really like to trade in my GTI for one of these...reachable dream I suppose if I'd just stop buying brewing gear lol

All Grain IPA Bad Batch Advice

If you are using an airlock the fluctuating temperatures in the garage could easily of resulted in the headspace "breathing" in oxygen every night as the temperature dropped. Perhaps the temperature fluctuations are also resuspending the yeast. That could explain the cloudy appearance and sour...

What are you paying to refill/exchange 10# co2 tanks?

    $34 for a 20# tank and $22 for a 5# tank when I filled last week.

All grain system or kegging system

Planning my brewing investments has been immensely enjoyable part of the hobby. I do have gear that is gathering dust and a bunch of gear I've given away to new brewers to make room for upgrades. You have mentioned three areas for investment and they are all valid - brewhouse, fermentation...

    Mash debate

I'm sure crush is part of the story here but there is different set of facts than normally seen when we normally get a "why is my efficiency so low thread?". The poor attenuation issue needs consideration. Out on a limb here but my thinking is crush has little or nothing to do with poor...

how about a meme generator thread...

That really should be done with a triangle test right? I think we need minimum of 30 tasters on this.

    Cold Crash Question

Im sorry you failed to implode your fermentor! did you have a camera set up to capture the event just in case? Anyway I'm less worried about the catastrophic collapse shown previously and more concerned that the seal may fail and let in some air. I assume the tri clover gaskets are probably...
