    Hoppy thing recipe help/critique

I brewed this recipe recently. First time using hop extract but it came with a chart showing how many IBUs per ml. I live near Treehouse and as others have said, this recipe is a nice IPA but not really a Treehouse clone. To take it a step closer to Treehouse, I feel the bittering hops...

    Treehouse Brewing Good Morning Clone

Thanks for the input! By any chance do you recall the priming calculator you found on line for maple syrup? I found a couple but neither includes syrup as an choice.

    Treehouse Brewing Good Morning Clone

It makes sense that the later maple is added in the process, the more flavor remains. How much maple syrup did you use for priming? Do you recall what grade it was, i.e. Amber, dark, very dark? I'm not sure if the different grades have different sugar content.

I want a new type of ipa

+1 on the German style IPA. Take an alt beer recipe and hop it up with a blend German grown Hallertau, Tetnanger, etc. It will yield a spicy/earthiness different from American or traditional English IPAs. Brewed one a while back and liked the result

All extracts have a similar taste?

How quickly are you drinking the beer after fermentation ends and you bottle it? When I was new to brewing, I would start drinking the beer as soon as it was carbonated. While it tasted like beer, it still had a certain "green"flavor. LHBS then recommend letting it mature for a while. This...

    Robust Porter

I second switching out some of the chocolate for black patent or even roasted barley. Either are common in a robust porter. Maybe just 2oz for a five gallon batch.

    Critique my pale ale

Sure, go ahead and post it. I brewed a batch recently and tried first wort hopping for the first time. I'm curious to see what others do.

Dry Hop a Beer That's Going to Age?

Could you dry hop it a week or so before bottling? Or does that mess something up?

Looking for a fall harvest ale recipe.

When I think harvest ale, something Amber/Brown comes in mind to complement the leaves changing color in the fall. How about this as a starting point? An amber with a hint of chocolate malt. It's got a good amount of malt to help offset the cascade finishing hops. 8 lb two row malt (Or 6.6...

    American Wheat/Harpoon UFO Inspired

A few years ago I brewed a wheat beer using yeast cultured from a bottle of Harpoon UFO. The goal was an easy drinking summer beer and I liked that the yeast profile of the UFO is less dominant than a typical German wheat. The home brew was not bad at all but seemed a little thin and...

Harpoon UFO clone. This recipe vs AHS kit?

Back in the year 2000, this beer was hard to find in bottles outside Boston, which was 100 miles away from my house. While visiting the city, I picked up two six packs with the intent on culturing the yeast to brew. I liked the lighter refreshing taste of this American Wheat as opposed to a...

    Strangest Ingredient You Have Used???

I'll admit that this was unintentional, but brewing in the fall one day and acorn fell from a tree bounced off the deck and into the brew pot. We just let it go and it didn't have any noticeable effect on the beer but it was kind of a cool story to tell. Of course we named it Acorn Pale Ale...

Recipe for Steel Rail Extra Pale Ale?

I too am a fan of Steel Rail. Where are you located? My LHBS, not too far from Berkshire Brewing, offered a good extract recipe. http://beer-winemaking.com/product/beer-recipe-kits/golden-spike
