    Hello - Intro

I would recommend placing that fermentor some place you cant get to very easily. Then take a specific gravity in two weeks. You will be pleasantly surprised.

    Beer Cloudy and Sediment

You can also add plain gelatin to the primary if cold crashing is not an option. I had a Belgian tripel that was cloudy and it cleared up in 24hours. Then I bottle conditioned with no carb problems.

What to do when your airlock is full of wort.

+1 The first beer I brewed I put the stopper in too tight and had a difficult time getting it out after fermentation. Now I loosely put it in. It still has a good seal and everything still comes out the airlock but if it got clogged it will push the stopper out before blowing something up.

    Beer Cities You've Visited

Drinking local beer while overseas is a great way to connect with a city or culture. When I travel I only drink local, even if it's commercial. When I was in New Zealand I enjoyed Speights quite a bit. I had so many different beers while I was there but I cant really remember most of them...

    New to this!

Welcome to the madness Rob. I am a new homebrewer myself but if I were to give you one tip it would be to RDWHAHB when ever you think you have a problem. Chances are everything is fine.

Tacos n' beer, always a great combo :rockin: I also love the looks we get when a dozen nurses come in and start drinking at 8AM!

    AM drinking...

I work 12 hour night shifts as an ICU nurse. Several of my coworkers and I regularly hit the local taco stand for tacos and beer after work. There's nothing like a tall cold one to get rid of the stress of a difficult night and put you right to get a good day's worth of sleep. The hardest...

    No More Home Brew

Unfortunately this is not true. Allergies can pop up at almost any time and seemingly out of no where.

So why is my homebrew giving me the splats?

Actually an oligosaccharide is a complex sugar/carbohydrate made up of 3-10 simple sugar molecules. Oligo is latin or greek for many. The wiki article is confusing. Here's oligosaccharide molecule and now a simple sugar (glucose): Your GI system needs to break the oligosaccharide down...

    Home brew or comercial beer

I love commercial, craft, and micro brews. Heck, I love beer and I thought I was quite a connoisseur of beer until I started homebrewing. I can't believe how much my world has opened since I started. I appreciate so many different aspects of beer besides taste now and I love to try different...

So why is my homebrew giving me the splats?

+1 That you'll get used to it. Anything that your GI system has to adapt to digest will cause a disturbance! Most people will get gassy but you may be a little more sensitive, ie the shats. Hope it "passes" quickly for you (so to speak). :D

    No More Home Brew

Symptoms still persist? That sucks. Have they tested you for Celiacs? You can become gluten intolerant practically overnight and the S/S are consistent. H. Pylori would is a good scenario if that is what you have. Should clear up with a course of antibiotics. Good luck man hope you feel...
