    Stainless stell Brew pots question

You might switch to one of them long handled plastic spoons sold at home brew shops. You don't want to to scratch the bottom if you can avoid it. I guess wood would work too. Don't go in there with steel wool pads trying to take out the scratches. That will cause rusting, due to metal in the...

I think I want to give wine a shot...

P Funky, I remember reading that Walker bought a corker. It's probably the 12 or 14 dollar one you described. Never heard it called Portuguese, though. Those are usually floor models, I think. I still need to get a corker. Glad you told us about the fast insertion trick. Thanks.

    Bar plans

Four feet tall, for real? That's 48 inches tall. Mine is just a hair under 43 inches and I was thinking it was a tad too tall. That is one of the things I was going to mention to FULLSACK if he bought plans from the place I linked to. What kind of barstools did you get, and from where?

    Bar plans

I bought my plans from these guys: http://www.precision-images.com/ They have all sorts of designs. Some fairly simple and some not. Fast service and nice plans. While not pictures of my bar per se, you can see it in a couple of pictures in my gallery. Let me know if you order from...

AK-47 inventor: U.S. troops in Iraq prefer my rifle to theirs

Just Googled this up. It explains the situation fairly well: http://www.geocities.com/kirbytheog/ak47.html ------- I don't own an AK styled rifle. I might one of these days. I do own the closest AR-15, true to the original Stoner design possible, within my budget. Mine looks...

AK-47 inventor: U.S. troops in Iraq prefer my rifle to theirs

Public Service Announcement For the uninformed, there are very few true AK-47s in the US in civilian hands. Probably only a handful. In the US we have AK-47 "styled" rifles. AK-47s described in this article are capable of fully automatic fire (like a machine gun). The versions sold in the...

OMG.... LOL.... two bananas in one week! Thanks for the laugh. I needed one about now....

    Yay! Boiling Pot!

What really cuts the crud off of the stove top and ventahood for me, is the Orange Glo stuff. I even use the generic brands and they work well. Sometimes you have to spray it on and let it soak a second, but it works on that built up greasy film. Might be worth a try. If it doesn't work on...

    Best kit to start with?

You can do it that way. It's not required that you use a secondary fermenter. It just helps to get the beer off the yeast cake and let it clear a bit more in a clean vessel, before moving it to the bottling bucket.
  13. Lounge Lizard

    Best kit to start with?

The second bucket is a bottling bucket. I guess you could rack to that for a seconadary, and then use the lid and airlock from the primary bucket on it. Bottling buckets don't come with lids, at least this one doesn't. But after you use the bottling bucket for a secondary, it would help to yet...

    Best kit to start with?

Yea, it would work. It just doesn't come with a secondary. It does have a red capper, which can be used to cap champagne bottles. Maybe get it and then order a 5 gallon glass carboy from somehwere? That would work...

    Best kit to start with?

Check these starter kits out: After four batches or so, you will have paid for the equipment. http://www.northernbrewer.com/starterkits.html The "Glass Starter Kit" would get you off to a great start. 99 dollars and it comes with a glass secondary. If you have decent kitchen stove...

    Best kit to start with?

radiohead84, If you haven't done it yet, read through www.howtobrew.com There are lots of online homebrew shops. Some have free shipping on orders over 60 dollars. Austin Homebrew for one. Northern Brewer doesn't have free shipping, but they are a good place to buy from. Request one...

    Best kit to start with?

After the initial outlay, I think it's possible to save money. At $7.50 a six-pack for you average craft brew buying from the store, eight six-packs would run $60.00 plus tax. I usually get a little more than eight sixers from a batch. Some sixers cost more than $7.50. If you were careful...

    Removing Labels...

I think one of the keys is to just not be in a hurry to get the labels off. Try to have all the bottles ready before bottling day. Whenever I have extra One Step left over from whatever I'm doing, I put it in a pail with a lid. As I drink store-bought beer, I rinse out the empities and put...
