    Auberins rtd sensor

Question: what is the best way to splice rtd sensor wires? I bought the deluxe cable from auber and my cables came today, along with my pids and timer!! But I have a small problem, the short lead that is on the chassis mount side if the plug is not long enough to reach my pid's. So what is the...

4-wire GFCI 220 volt cable with a 3-wire dryer outlet?

If you guys only knew how many times I went through ordering that part until I got to the submit button. I finally came to my senses and got a spa panel, for 10 bucks I might add, on eBay, and it was brand new never opened 50amp! After reading this I feel even better, thank you guys so much for...

4-wire GFCI 220 volt cable with a 3-wire dryer outlet?

That's what I thought too, but I am hung up on the bare wire going to the j box, not the outlet, I guess that's where I get confused, why would the outlet be a 3 prong with a hot hot neutral, but not a hot hot ground?

4-wire GFCI 220 volt cable with a 3-wire dryer outlet?

I have read your post a few times and don't think I totally understand what your asking ( but I'm not to bright either ha ha) . In order for a gfi to work, IMO, it has to have all 4 wires for a 220v feed, to be safe. I personally think a spa panel is the way to go. Any way you could take some...

    Wire Size and Current Capacity

In my opinion, why would you risk it? Yeah I get that it will hold whatever you say(166amps). I also know that when they test let's say a rigging strap, if a nylon rigging strap is rated at 10,000 pounds, I know that that strap was actually tested and certified at 1-1/2 times it's capacity, does...

    Freezer Compressor Repair

If I'm not mistaken, if the freon gets low enough the compressor won't turn in anyway right? There also should be a thermostat of some sort and or a relay to fire the compressor right?

    Freezer Compressor Repair

I'm not a hvac guy or a qualified technician but here is my experience with it. It is not cost effective to replace the compressor. Unless you found one that was out of a non working freezer. The other thing about it is, depending on how old the unit is, the freon alone might set you back quite...

    K type vs rtd

I do have the correct k type wire, but the more I read an the more posts I get, kinda getting the drift that the rtd is the better way to go.

    Mesh screen insude BK

What do you use to rack to the fermenter? (newbie here) I can use my march pump, but how do you get prime to the pump? Or do you just use an auto syphon? Sorry for the dumb questions, like I said , newbie, almost have my system ready to fire up. Haven't done any all grain yet, going to break...

    Total neophyte question

That all depends on if you have 220v heating element or 110v elements. As far as grounding goes, what I did was weld a ground stud to the kettle and tie ground there from the control panel ground bar that is fed through the spa panel, of course, fed from your service panel. If you have 220v...

    Mesh screen insude BK

Question: why not put a "screen" inside the boil kettle like you do in the mash tun? I have a 1" stainless steel mesh screen approx 16" long in my mash tun as my "false bottom" . Why couldn't you do the same thing on the bottom valve of the boil kettle to filter out some of the garbage before it...

    K type vs rtd

Hey thanks guys, all good info, right now I just have the bung welded in the mlt, which had no"control" factor anyway, just kind of a reference since I'm using a herms and not a rims system. I think for my sanity, I will just go with the rtd sensor so it's not a problem down the road. The...

    K type vs rtd

Yet another rookie question: Will k type thermocouples work fine, or do you need to use rtd style. Reason I ask is because I can get k type high quality thermocouples from work for dirt cheap, and can make all of my own stainless bungs to weld into my keggles. Just tryin to save some $$$$...

    Aubers Contactor

Kinda new to this electric brewery hung, so I'm just wondering, what are all the ssr's for, is tha a bcs rig, or your "standard" 1 2 or 3 pid panel build, I have 3 pid's but only 2 ssr's. I've seen a couple now that have 6 ssr's and can't figure out why there are so many! Please help me!!

    Relays vs. SSR's

I would really like to know the reason behind this, not to say one is better or you NEED to do this or that, just for my own sanity, when you get time please post your reasoning behind using relays instead of ssr's.

    Portable spa panel

Don't know why it wouldn't work, hard wiring or plug in, it's still making contact right, a plug won't affect the gfci. Not an electrician, but I don't see the problem! Good call!!
