    Fermentation Closet almost done

Got the door covered with dry erase board from Home Depot (thanks for the heads up, android). Now I'm debating what approach to take for temp control and would appreciate any input. Factors (?): I'm content with brewing just ales. Next temp monitoring/control challenge will be a...

    Dremel Help

While I shot it down for a hole saw,the dremel made short work of cutting the slots in my cpvc MLT manifold. Therefore, I second ChshreCat vote. If you can, get a drill and dremel!

    Heat stick controller??

Mentioned Harbor Freight in another thread and noticed this while messing around on their site: http://www.harborfreight.com/router-speed-control-43060.html I wonder if this would work on a 120V heat stick?? Edit: Scratch that... While a fair claim, their "variable speed" is high, medium...

    Dremel Help

I've had a couple of different dremels and can't imagine it working for a hole saw. If you search for Harbor Freight coupons and get lucky you can get a rather inexpensive variable speed drill there. I wouldn't swear but I think I paid $12-15 for one. May not last that long but if I can use...

    Utility Room Brewery Project

I really was leaning towards venting through the dryer duct since the other side of that foundation wall is the front porch (slab). I'm second guessing venting into the dryer duct now with the votes against it. While I don't plan on moving any time soon, I was avoiding doing anything to the...

    Fermentation Closet almost done

Good point on the airflow/fans. Those partitions basically ended up as a duct to the front of the original fridge. Wonder if I could get by with one or two fans there? This summer that utility room has stayed between 68-72, so I'd like to think it wouldn't be running a terrible amount...

    Fermentation Closet almost done

Thanks for the tip on the dry erase board, android. I was just checking out your thermostat and ebay temp controller links. Have you found either to be more preferable than the other?

    Utility Room Brewery Project

Hopefully there is no flaw in the design as far as the bar is concerned, SweetSounds. :) If you look at the floorplan in my first post, the AV cabinet and bar are on the wall just to the left of the water heater. I am hoping to put some kegs in the utility room with 3 or 4 taps on the wall...

    Fermentation Closet almost done

dRapp, the OSB on top of the foam board is definitely sturdy enough to walk on. Those small partitions are only about 12" apart. kpr121, the chalkboard paint did cross my mind but I assumed I would still have to put something on top of the foamboard to apply the paint to. My preference would...

    Utility Room Brewery Project

Ok, the fermentation closet is almost done! I did leave about 5" between the back of the fridge and the wall. I also built up some partitions so the front of the fridge could still pull in air at the bottom. Pics are here...

    Fermentation Closet almost done

Started with a sided-by-side fridge that a friend gave me. Gutted it and went from there. I was a bit disappointed ot find the cooling line in the partition between the fridge and freezer, but I can still get a carboy behind it. As is it will hold 6 carboys with plenty of room. If I ever need...

2010 Wagon Queen Family Truckster and Brewpub Tour!

Went to New Glarus today. Good beer and the "self-guided tour" was very cool. If you can manage to get by there on a Friday the "hard hat tour" would be great, I'm sure.

2010 Wagon Queen Family Truckster and Brewpub Tour!

Well, because of travel times and tour times/days, looks like O'Fallon, Schlafly and Boulevard are out. Still trying to figure out how to get over to Surly. The good news is that I can definitely make it to New Glarus and Leinenkugel. Also, I will most likely just plan on finding a time to...
