Mr Beer - Read all about it and ask questions

You definately need to bottle it. You cannot carbonate in the Mr Beer keg. I can't find it or I'd post the link......theres a guide on here that suggests how much sugar to use for priming when you bottle your beer. It's a good bit of info to have but the same is available in your brew kit...

    Too many hops......

Yeah.....right now I need all the help I can get. I'll have to check out Total Wines supply of Hopslam. I've never had it.....sounds good. I'm all for brewing sometime. Let me know when you plan on concocting your next batch.

    All-grain (oat) beer...

Well then......I'll just have to learn about the mashing process:) And that IS going to have to be put on hold......I KNOW the Mrs won't let me have a mash tun right now! But one day I shall enjoy my all oat beer!!!

    All-grain (oat) beer...

Remember...I'm relatively new to home brewing. What is "full AG?" My plan is to bring the water up to 170 degrees then steep the oat malt OR whatever I need to do to ensure the sugars from the oats end up in my water. I was going to use a grain bag. But the consensus is to use rice hulls...

    All-grain (oat) beer...

Do you suggest rice hulls for more fermentable sugar? If I take that suggestion, will the oat flavor still be present over that of the rice? Heres the plan..... Make a pre-boil tea with cinnamon, honey and vanilla beans THEN steep my oat malt. -OR- Steep the Oat Malt first THEN in a...

    All-grain (oat) beer...

Well Chef, I'll let you know how it turns out. As of now I'm in the planning stage. Ingredients include Oat Malt, Cinnamon, Honey, Vanilla Bean (I've read that vanilla extract is too potent). The finished product will hopefully produce an oatmeal cookie after taste. I'm not sure which...

    All-grain (oat) beer...

I'm wanting to brew up a beer with the only source of fermentable sugar coming from oats. Will this produce a decent beer? Or should there be other grains added? Also, what hops additions do any of you suggest?

    Too many hops......

Morbo! We're practically neighbors! For that I'll share my liquid crack with you......if I ever get my hands on some. I looked at the site.....goona have to wait until next January. But I did see that it IS available in Florida. We shall see.....

    Root Beer??? anyone?

Nurm.....your root beer experience nearly caused me to hydrate my monitor with the orange juice I was trying to drink while reading. Just remember next time you make root beer....if you think the seals are tight enough, they're not:)

Mr Beer - Read all about it and ask questions

Yes, I am still restricted (per the Mrs. orders) to my Mr. Beer barrel. We're still in an apartment and simply have no room for a bigger setup. But once we have a house my beer making endeavors are going to expand like Rosie O'Donnell's belly. On my first batch I did what you...

Mr Beer - Read all about it and ask questions

When I bottled my last batch I dissolved 1 cup of dextrose in boiling water then with a sterilized seringe I shot 2 tablespoons of dextrose water into each bottle then capped them.....they all turned out perfectly carbonated. But I only had 2 gallons of beer. I noticed on that chart it only...

Mr Beer - Read all about it and ask questions

So....if I were to carbonate/condition with honey instead of dextrose, how much honey should I use for a 12oz. bottle? And is it better to dissolve the honey in hot water prior to putting it in the bottles?

    Too many hops......

I've been reading a lot about hops additions and hopheads (those who like a LOT of hops in their beer). My question is......can you add too much to a beer before it tastes bad even to a hop head? Second question......with so many different varieties and species of hops, how do you know which...

Mr Beer - Read all about it and ask questions

Thanks ifishsum! Now for another dumb question.....what is LHBS? Ultimately I want to get off the extract all together and brew exclusively with all-grain. If I saw it a couple times I'd know what to do. But I don't know anybody who brews. So I'm limited to reading and learning what I can...

Mr Beer - Read all about it and ask questions

Wait a minute........so I'm not limited to bottling with just dextrose (priming sugar)? I can bottle my flat beer and prime it with honey or DME instead of dextrose? This is very interesting to me! Does this effect the final outcome as far as flavor is concerned. It seems to me if I'm making...

Mr Beer - Read all about it and ask questions

And....I guess I should have asked this in the post above........how do you keep the ABV high without using the booster? And another question........can you use the Mr Beer kegs to make an all-grain brew? I've got lots of ideas but I don't know the limits of my Mr Beer kegs. What I do know...

Mr Beer - Read all about it and ask questions

:mug: Ditch the booster? I'm all for following the advice of people who know what they're talking about. But I also want to know why. For the 2 batches I've finished and the one of the way I use dextrose for bottling. What is the difference between dextrose and corn sugar? And what is...

Mr Beer - Read all about it and ask questions

I am very new to homebrewing and am not the least bit shy about admitting I use a Mr. Beer set up. In fact, I have 2 of them now so I can make two types of brew at once. Each keg makes about a case......not too much waste if my beer comes out very bad. I'm still in learning mode at the moment...

    How did you find us?

I was having a beer with Harrison Ford. A good while into our conversation on dry hopping a voluptuous red head leaned and whispered into my ear that my buddy Harrison is full of crap and suggested I check out your site:) I think I'm going to like it here! Tuck
