    Homebrewing Blog

I just thought I'd throw mine in here. I just started it last month so there's not much there yet but I plan on keeping it updated. Morgan River Brewery By the way, I like all that I'm seeing here and I'm adding links to the ones here. I am still trying to figure out exactly how I want...

    Rules for label making?

I would say the rule is, if you want it on there, put it on there. I've seen labels done up where the person had the brewery name, brew name, and maybe some kind of picture. I've seen some that had all kind of details about the brew and "gov't" warnings, some close to real and some really far...

    Deburring CPVC

I have a dremel and a hacksaw. I've never cut pvc with a dremel so I don't know how clean the cuts would be.

    Deburring CPVC

I'm getting ready to build my mash tun out of an old cooler I have lying around and there's one thing bugging me. I have all the parts to build a manifold out of cpvc. What's the best way to debur the slots/holes cut into the pipes? I have sandpaper and I'm not worried about the ends but...

    Bargainfittings.com

I just thought I'd post this to ensure anyone looking at my previous post doesn't take that as a bad review. I will assume the email he sent requesting the correct address was confirmation that he shipped my parts. I ordered them on Friday and received them on Tuesday. Everything, exactly as...

    Bargainfittings.com

I just placed my first order from bargainfittings.com on Friday. I got an email asking which address because I entered my current address but paypal still had my old one. I replied to let them know which one and haven't gotten anything else. Do they send an email when the order ships?

    Brewery names--what's your story?

After playing with it for a few years and looking at different ideas, I think I've settled on one. My last name is Morgan and I now live right by the Penobscot River in Brewer, Maine. So, I have Morgan River Brewery.

    Chocolate Mint Stout

Not sure if anyone's tried it before but there's a recipe for a Chocolate Mint Stout in the Radical Brewing book. I've been toying with the idea of trying it but I'm not sure.

    Show Us Your Label

:off: I'm very interested in the database of which you speak. I'm not sure this thread is the place to discuss but I have a feeling more people would be interested. If nothing else, I'd like to hear more.

    Welp... I made mead...

I'd say that's up to you. My recommendation would be to let it ferment out, rack it, and let it age. Possibly at this point add some potassium sorbate or something to inhibit the yeast. Give it some time with a few tastes occasionally to see what you think but I wouldn't do anything else for...

    Winter Mead (melo-meth)

I don't have a lot of experience but I'll give it a shot. I think 2 - 3 weeks is fairly common for the primary. I've also seen recommendations to watch the airlock and rack when there's only a bubble every couple seconds or so. There's no need to see what's going on, although it can be fun...

    Winter Mead (melo-meth)

I wish I could, and you have opened my eyes to something I should have looked into when making it. I never tasted the juices before the mead was finished. The other thing I can't honestly comment on is strength. I quite often just trust my meads to do their own thing so I don't take readings...

    Winter Mead (melo-meth)

I actually used artisan well water that I got in the grocery store. I try to stick to that for consistency in my brews. I've been told that that's a shame since I live in Colorado and the water here is supposed to be miraculous or something but I've had good results and I'm sticking to it...

    Winter Mead (melo-meth)

Wow, I had completely forgotten about putting this up. Everyone who's tried it has either loved it or been overly nice to my face. They have come back for more and more. I haven't brewed anything in a while because I just don't have the time right now but I would love to make some more of...

    Field Berry Mead (Melomel)

Had I seen this thread sooner, I would have posted a reply. I made a mead a couple of years ago using blue, black, rasp and strawberries. I got the idea from a pie my wife made in one of her experimenting moods. The pie was equal parts each berry, but then again, in pie, you eat the berries...

    Christmas Mead

I've been making this one for a couple of years and I love it. I realize it's a 3 gallon recipe but it finishes with such a great flavor. I've normally added wine conditioner to kill the yeast and resweeten at the end and it's normally drinkable within two months and gets even better after...

    Braggot questions

One thing I've noticed is you lose the honey flavor in braggots. I think this comes with the fact that honey is about 75% fermentable sugars so you only have 25% left for any flavor at all. I would say that if you want a honey flavor in beer it would be best to use a honey malt. If you want a...

locating a "fill while you wait" propane, CO2? (NC)

If you're still looking for a place to get propane tanks filled, I know I have taken mine to a local RV dealership. I would think most of them across the country would do this since plenty of RVs have tanks that can't be removed. I don't know if this is of any help but it's what I've got from...

    Help with brewery name

Thanks guys for the suggestions. I like the Celtic Cross Brewery idea but after rh348877's post, I looked and found that there's also a Celtic Cross Pub in New Brunswick Canada. No Name sounds just like something I would use. After messing around some more last night, I did come up with...
