    Oh boys, where to start....

+1 to not trying to salvage the sprite. I have a couple coke kegs, and had trouble with the purge valve also. Just can't get it to push pull or turn. I got a gas disconnect, and did not connect anything to it. I keep it in my keezer, and if I need to relieve pressure I just press it on...

    Flying with beer

Why not just have someone brew for you? I taught a buddy to brew in St. Louis. Now I have beer in Missouri and Ohio! :) It's also where my dad is, so now it's close to him, and I don't have to make a 6 hour drive with it. You could probably find someone where you are getting married, or...

Oh S&%# - 1 gal of iodophor solution in the fermenter!

If you add campden to tap water, chlorine will precipate out of solution. Is there a similar addition for Iodine? I do not know. If you could ensure that you dropped the iodine out, then you would just have diluted wort. I am not saying drop a campden tablet in your wort, and drink it. I'm...

    My Hard Lemonade Experiment

Your fermentation step is correct. A few words about the sugars, if I may: 3/4 tsp is what you will get if you divide down from the recommended amount of corn sugar for a 5 gallon batch. Pointing that out so you know where I am getting the baseline from. Lactose is a milk sugar that has some...

How to carbonate one bottle ?

That was corn sugar. I haven't had good results with a level teaspoon, or 1/2 teaspoon. So, I just scoop out with a teaspoon and make sure it's not quite full.

    Brew Superstition (rant)

How does someone else's actions effect you at all? It doesn't. Continue to make great beer, and share how. I will continue to make great beer, and share how I did it. If we differ, SO WHAT? I do not secondary. Some people choose to, doesn't mean I won't drink their beer, or offer them one...

Oh S&%# - 1 gal of iodophor solution in the fermenter!

My guess would be it won't even ferment, I don't think the yeast will survive. From the MSDS, BTF Iodophor: I'm gonna go with, even diluted, dump it.

    Simple BeerSmith Question

Tell it how much you want to end up with. It will calculate the rest based on boil time and ingredients. You will have to enter your kettle into the equipment table as well. Tell Beersmith how big your kettle is and how much you leave in it from siphoning, or the kettlevalve.

My own Keezer build! Does this seem right?!

It is finished! I love it, and am enjoying the fruits of my labor!!! :D I took sweetsound's advice and just srewed the collar straight through the lid. My facebook page is public, shouldn't need a login to see it, and I made a slideshow of the install. The HBT gallery is being moody and some...

    Faucet troubleshooting

Took apart my neighbors faucet :) found an o-ring inside the faucet that is not on mine. Hopefully, I can find this at Home Depot

    Faucet troubleshooting

Installed my first faucet on the collar of my keezer today, and when I connect it to the beer out on the keg, I get foam shooting out the shank nut holes, not sure if that is right term. The faucet connects to the shank, and on the shank is the rounded nut with holes in it for tightening, I am...

How to carbonate one bottle ?

I have always used a scant teaspoon, as in not a heaping teaspoon, I make sure it is not quite full. No water, just drop in the bottle. I use a small sheet of wax paper, measure the sugar, pour on the wax paper, make a funnel shape with the paper by folding in half without creasing and pour...

    Anyone in/around Greensboro NC interested??

Definitely check the existing club out, don't just rely on what you heard from someone, your mileage may vary. The meeting may be just what you a looking for. Homebrewers as a general group love beer almost as much as they love talking about it. Take some of your homebrew with you, and ask...

    My Hard Lemonade Experiment

Any sugar is significant enough to cause bottle bombs, just control the amount you put in, and use measured amounts. If I was doing this hard lemonade I would: Rack off 2 bottles and prime with 50/50 mixture of corn sugar/lactose (3/4 tsp per bottle) let it do its thing, open em up for...

    Flying with beer

They absolutely do. I have lost cigars, deodorant, beer and liquor. There does not have to be more to it. They know no one is going to complain, just try and find someone to complain to, let alone actually follow-up on it with someone. These guys know nothing is gonna happen to them. They...

    My Hard Lemonade Experiment

Try priming with lactose, milk sugar, along with corn sugar. Lactose is only partially fermentable so you will have some sugars left over to sweeten the stuff back up.

    Renters Wine rack (planning phase)

Consider horizontal slats in your box. Water is 8 lbs/gal so that is 280 lbs of water on your bottom jug. That seems excessive.
