Hi hi. I am prewing some pale ail and after day 5 in the primary I am noticing a blue tint in the color. Like it is really looking blue and it is starting to worry me. I will get home tonight and take pix but for now does anyone have any ideas of what may be going on? There is zero foam...

    Does home brewing smell?

good idea but you will have a foamy sticky hard mess outside and against your wall that you will have to scrape off :P route the first hose to a blowoff bucket then another hose from the bucket out the window :D less mess and less people calling the police reporting you have a meth lab lol

what else do i need before i brew

A secondary little bucket for blowoff is probably a good idea unless you like mopping foam off your floor or carpet :P Make sure though to fill the blowoff bucket 1/3 with sanitized water!

    First Beer!... 6 gallons?

The wort foam will also have a extremely strong smell. If you are indoors you may want to have a lid on the secondary bucket ( where the foam will go into ) have the lid air sealed and set up so a secondary hose leads out the window as seen below. Prevents that lingering sweet smell hovering...

    Mad scientist lab. Scentless beermaking.

** UPDATE ** Day 2 of No smell fermenting It is into hour 28 roughly and still no scent at all. Actually there is a small flower odor from one of those plug in glade freshners. I can see a little steam come off the sock heading outside. This worried me a little so I checked the temp of my...

    Does home brewing smell?

If you want to cut all of the fermentation smell just go to my other post on odorless brewing. I have a room now that doesn't have a single hint of beer smell to it yet I have a beer that is foaming like mad and would normally be tossing out bitter smells. :D There are ways to make sure your...

    Mad scientist lab. Scentless beermaking.

Here you can see the hose going out the window with a sock tightly tied onto it. I gave about half a inch at the end of the hose and the sock so it can breath easier. You can see my tin foil and sealant on the stand along with a cuban cigar I intend to smoke later. Finished station all up and...

    Mad scientist lab. Scentless beermaking.

Hi all. Like I posted a few days ago my "other" that lives in the house told me I had to stop brewing because she hated the smell. Well.. I am not one to give up so I designed a way to ensure no odor reaches her lovely nose. Pix are as follows then I will explain them afterwards with the...

Noob question: Dry hopping.. how do I do it in secondary?

Silly question that I cant find the answer for in search options :P How exactly do I dry hop in secondary? Do I just go buy a tea bag and fill it with raw dryhops and soak them in the carboy for a few weeks? I was thinking in that case to use something like this Thank you in advance...
