    Pitching yeast

I used dry/packet yeasts for about 1 1/2 years before switching to liquid yeast. There was a dramatic improvement in flavour and increase in my wifes happiness, there is no way I'd go back to dry yeast. I've been told by my local Home brew shop that different yeasts will "strip out" different...

    Helllpppppp!!!!!!!!

Hey My recipes are a bit basic, Start with a tin of cider extract add 3-6 litres of apple juice(100% not preserves) 1/2-1 kg of Dextrose. (make it up to the amount recomemended by tin ( so that it has a better flavour cos the tins can be a bit "bland") Chuck on a good quality yeast. (my yeast...

umm, I'd leave it for a bit before adding extra sugar in bottles. coz those Grolshy type bottles are very pretty and it would be a shame for them to go "BANG"

    Helllpppppp!!!!!!!!

Well I'm not claiming to be an expert but why don't you just bottle it , if you reckon its ready and "suck it and see"? How strong of an apple flavour did the fuice have in the first place? I use the Whitlabs Eng cider yeaast and they all keep lots of flavour. good luck!::drunk:

    Effects of temperature?

I do my fermenting in an old fridge with an air conditioner thermostat installed but before I went all technological I had them in a large plastic crate with a lid that I put ice bottles in around the corners. It worked pretty well but I got a bit sick of changing waterbottles twice a day:D

What's the basic process for a cider?

What's with the boiling the juice? I do a fair bit of cider brewing and haven't ever boiled the juice. A good yeast will help. Whitelabs "English Cider " yeast improved mine to no end alx

    Extract Vs. All grain

Hey Bloke, You can get really good results with just an extract, But they can improve outasite with a bit of extra grainy goodness. I only use tins cos I don't have the set up , Its quick , clean and tastes pretty good, (I've won two regional cpmps with extract based beers/ciders too)
