    Bogus PIDs and SSRs?

Mager SSRs from eBay. They are available from a seller in Georgia if you want fast shipping, or on the slow boat from China

    Kegco Mill?

I'm tempted to upgrade from my cereal killer just for the larger hopper. Getting a triple roller would be a nice benefit too

    Oxygen Setup

I did that calculation and ended up going with the cheapy 10$ cylinders. I weigh them before and after use for repeatability, once you've used the regulator a couple of times it's pretty easy to just crack it open to the right point then do your addition by time. That being said I brew mostly...

    Kegco Mill?

That does look like an awesome mill

    Show us your panel

Recently finished and used in anger for the first time last Sunday. Two PIDs for the HLT and RIMS, two switched outlets for pumps, all running from a 30A circuit Two Mager SSRs for element fine control, contactors for element on/off. The RIMS contactor is interlocked to the pump switch...

    First electric brew day

I like my cooler HLT. It needs stirring as it approaches target temp, at least until I get another pump to recirculate it. But once it's up to temperature it holds very well. The worst part is making a big enough hole in the side of the cooler to get the HotPod in place, if you aren't careful...

Most critical steps to produce the best tasting all grain beer?

    1) Keep your yeast happy - this means a regulated temperature environment (absolute temperature matters less than keeping it under control), a decent level of minerals (plenty of calcium, some yeast energizer if you are feeling flush) and a reasonable pitching rate 2) Mash mineralization and...

    I hate my cheap refractometer

My refractometer is a $20 cheapy unit from a random Amazon seller, I calibrate it using tap water and the only real issue I have with it is that the line is always a little fuzzy. I either use plastic pasteur pipettes to sample the wort, or just dip the thing into the kettle and sample that way...

    First electric brew day

Sunday marked my first real brew on my newly revamped system. I'm cheating slightly as I still use propane for boiling, as I have a blichmann burner which works wonderfully so I see no real reason to change. The heart of the new setup is a 12" RIMS tube from Brewhardware, which has a 4500W...

golden promise and pearl malts - HELP!!!

You won't be able to tell the difference between those two malts with those hops. You'll definitely get the benefit of something more exciting than US two row though

    Intertap beer faucets

Anyone interested in splitting an order from AliExpress? With shipping they come out at about $30 each

What I did for beer today

Got my panel wiring finished, so did a couple of calibration runs for the eHLT and RIMS tube. Got to figure out the pump mounting location and power, then start cutting hoses to length and see if I need to get any more camlocks

    Recommendations on propane burner?

I have absolutely no regrets in buying my blichmann burner either.

    star san precipitates white sludge

It's not star San per se, it's your water. The chemicals in the star San are precipitating out with some of the dissolved solids in your water. Make it up with RO or DI water from the grocery store and you won't have that issue

Brewometer kickstarter thoughts - digital bluetooth hydrometer

Nobody knows the price elasticity though so your point is moot. It never hurts to communicate with a business, after all they don't have to do anything but it's always affirmative if someone responds. I'd like them to offer a nominal discount on quantity myself. I'd be instantly sold on a...

Brewometer kickstarter thoughts - digital bluetooth hydrometer

Maybe there is incentive to drive order volume to drop unit cost for the first production run or two? Maybe there is something to be gained by forging a relationship with a community and end users? There are multiple ways to handle doing business, and different and equally valid choices to be...

Brewometer kickstarter thoughts - digital bluetooth hydrometer

Hopefully they can address it, it should be simple enough but it seems like they're still hovering around minimum viable product stage, so it's designed around typical use scenarios, not abuse scenarios. Maybe they could consider a discount for multiple purchases? For the price I could easily...

    Golden Syrup

Here's a great write up by Ron Pattinson http://barclayperkins.blogspot.com/2009/06/refined-sugar-vs-invert-sugar.html?m=1 In short, it does make a flavour difference
