Thoughts on my recipe - IIPA

Well, it was different. Not something I would necessarily buy at a store. It was drinkable, albeit in small 8oz Solo cups to prevent total inebriation. It received mixed reviews from friends, some liked it and wouldn't leave until 2am and other stuck with the Kolsch. It's actually almost...

    Who's smoking meat this weekend?

Smoking a Boston Butt(6ish lbs) on Sunday for some friends. Rubbed it and vacuum sealed it for 2 days in the fridge a week and a half ago then threw it in the freezer. Took it out to defrost in the fridge yesterday. Also going to throw a whole chicken on and some turkey sausage for the...

    Who's smoking meat this weekend?

Have you ever tried smoking the brats? I did it a couple of weeks ago and they were great. They dont take too long either.

    Who's smoking meat this weekend?

Smoked a small brisket yesterday and threw in some brats for lunch while we were waiting. Ended up making a brisket omelette this morning with some of the leftovers.

DIY Stir Plate For Under $10

I did something similar, but made self contained and easy to store. I mounted the fan under the lid of one of those big Maxwell House coffee containers and ran the power out a small whole in the side. I had an old external 5v PC power supply laying around that uses the old style PC Molex...

Thoughts on my recipe - IIPA

Well, it's off to the keg for some aging. I had it crashing in the keezer for the last 5 days or so and it looks like everything has dropped out nicely. Took a sample and it's the same as the last one, 1.008 which gives me a final, albeit mathematical, ABV of 13.2. I've got to say the WLP001...

    Anyone tried this?!

5%. Their website puts the IBUs around 40ish as well.

    Anyone tried this?!

I'm drinking one right now, it's actually pretty good. It has a Citra aroma to it, but not overpowering. It has the IPA bitterness there too, but that's not too overwhelming either. Sorry, I suck at describing things. I'd say it's worth giving it a try it if you like IPAs.

    Show us your lacing

Here's a shot of my IPA from last fall. Here's one of my first attempt at a Kolsch that was just tapped.

2013's How many gal of homebrew in 2013

should be 28,352 based on your additions.

Thoughts on my recipe - IIPA

Yes, mostly because of the alcohol bite. I'll be aging it in the keg it'll be served from, so I'm hoping not to lose too much since it'll be a sealed environment. Also, by 3 months I meant total time. It'll be about 3 weeks in the primary and then I plan to crash in in the keezer at around...

Thoughts on my recipe - IIPA

It finally made it to 70F today and the FG is at 1.008. I plan on doing another dose of dry hops tomorrow or Monday and we'll see how it goes from there. I'm thinking this is going to be a 3 month beer at this rate. On a good note, I tapped my first Kolsch today and its pretty good. Not...

Thoughts on my recipe - IIPA

Thanks. Maybe I just won't add any ice bottles tonight then, that should bring it up to the 70F range and I'll just put less in tomorrow to keep it there. I started the dry hop a little early yesterday thinking it wasn't going to really get any lower. I'll guess I'll head to the LHBS tomorrow...

Thoughts on my recipe - IIPA

Well, 11 full days in the primary so far and it's down to 1.010 today, but it's dropped .001 a day the last couple of days, so it may keep going a little bit more. It has a nice citrusy aroma and flavor to it right now along with a noticeable alcohol taste. Based on the math, its at 13% right...

would WLP299 be a decent yeast for a DFH 90 min IPA clone?

Geez, I pay around $2.50/oz for them here in Florida at my LHBS and that's almost 3000 miles from Yakima. I just used 4oz of Amarillo(3 boil, 1 dry) in an 90-minute IIPA experiment I'm doing right now, along with a 3 others(8oz total in boil w/ 3oz in dry hop so far). Now that I think about...
