    Ok it's made!as above. og is 1020 at 27ltr,i think it should ferment down to 1004 and give me 2.1%abv as expected. the only change is in the yeast,i used a blend of gervin english ale and chimay yeast recoverd from a bottle i was drinking at the same time i was making up the starter!:D

    Yeh strange that,i allways thought it ment extra special bitter too but i've just had a look at a fullers esb recipe i've got lined up to brew and it shows a bitterness off 35 ebu,maybe it's "beer" not "bitter".

    True! i use a tn2 thermometer,i use it check mash liquor temp then switch to a spirit thermometer for the mash,then back to the tn2 for everything else,i find it most usful for checking fermentation temp as i dont like to mess with the wort once it's fermenting,i use 5 gallon plastic fermenters...

    Just to give you guys a comparison with across the pond,i pay £23.90 for 25kg of 2 row maris otter or if i want warminster 2 row maris otter its £28/25kg
