Turning your Fermonster into a complete closed transfer system for cheap!

Just curious why some are installing a floating dip tube through the cap if they have a spigot. Why not just install a gas QD on the lid and use the spigot for samples and transfer?

    Corny Kegs for Sour Aging

Good points. I'll be filling up an old carboy and better bottle that I've had for over a decade. Once those are filled I'll need more vessels hence creating this thread to get some feedback. Adventures in Homebrewing always has used kegs for $45 so it's not too bad.

    Corny Kegs for Sour Aging

Good stuff, exactly the kind of info I was looking for. 1 - I'm fine without the view. 2 - For cleaning, I pump 165 F water with PBW using a keg washer, so no concerns there. 3 - Volume doesn't matter much to me, I end up bottling all my sours. Plus, most will be blended so I can achieve 5...

    Unitank - close transfer beer

you don't need a prv. Connect racking port to beer line - bounce filter - beer line - ball lock disconnect. They have a Tri-clamp version or a smaller one. For the smaller one you'd want a 1.5" TC with a flare to connect hose to the filter, then filter to ball lock disconnect. These work...

    Corny Kegs for Sour Aging

You're right. From now on my posts titles will be something like "Look at the Hooters on this cheerleader - corny kegs for sour aging" I'm genuinely wondering if there are drawbacks due to geometry or whatever. I see so many people using carboys & better bottles and I wonder why since used...

    Corny Kegs for Sour Aging

I have a couple sours & funky beers currently aging in 2.5 & 5 gallon corny kegs, it's what I had available at the time. I don't have the space or money to buy oak barrels and don't wanna tie up a conical long term. I see a lot of people on this forum using Better Bottles, Carboys, Spiedels...

Bootleg Biology: Mad Fermentationist Brett Saison

Figured I'd re-ignite this thread. I brewed a split-batch of Saison using The Mad Fermentationist Saison blend & Embrace The Funk. The TMF batch came out really bland, thin, watery, with nothing real interesting going on. The ETF batch turned out amazing! The subtle Brett came through very...

    Wanted Duo Filler can filler

Thanks for the info. That's why I was contemplating the Mono - I don't necessarily want a a filled beer can sitting there too long if I can't keep up with two.

    Wanted Duo Filler can filler

I've been eyeing the Gen 2 Mono. In your opinion, is the dual filler worth the upgrade from the single filler?

    Sold Two ispindels for Sale

I have 2 ispindels that I just bought from cayde1001 on this forum. Brand New, never used. I just don't have the patience or technical know-how to set these up, I thought they were plug n play. Ideally, I'd like to sell these together due to shipping. $100 for both, I'll pay Shipping to Con U.S.

    New Product Announcement From SPIKE!

I agree with both of your gripes. I really hope starsan isn't leaking into the fermenter though. The only thing I can think of without having access to the innards of it is this: perhaps the pressure plate (or whatever it's called) that pushes up when CO2 accumulates distributes unevenly. I...

    New Product Announcement From SPIKE!

I just got one of these last week. The build quality and idea are great. However, my concern is that starsan in the sanitizer cup can leak down into the fermenter. I've had to top off the sanitizer cup twice now & I highly doubt it's due to evaporation.

Transferred 1/2 a batch through the GAS OUT post - Oxidized?

I was bleeding off the pressure valve. The transfer stalled midway so I connected a jumper from the Gas post (actually liquid post) into a bucket of starsan, that's when I realized I had messed up as beer was pushing out into the starsan bucket.

Transferred 1/2 a batch through the GAS OUT post - Oxidized?

That sounds tasty to me. I love Amarillo & Dorado, never used them together. I might have to soon.

Transferred 1/2 a batch through the GAS OUT post - Oxidized?

Since you were pushing CO2 through the bottom it shouldn't be a problem. You basically did a poor man's carb stone for a few seconds. Let us know how it turns out.

Transferred 1/2 a batch through the GAS OUT post - Oxidized?

Yeah, I hope so. I'll report back once it's fully conditioned to update everyone.
