I´m opening a brewpub, layout opinions? look some renders

Cool. Just making sure that you were aware of some of the things more people, than not, forget about. I've run kitchens and worked in restaurants many times over the years, and a lot of owners don't think about some of the small stuff.

I´m opening a brewpub, layout opinions? look some renders

That was my first thought as well. Re-enforcing the floor to handle all the equipment and water weight, would cost more than anything else in the build out. Personally, I think that the space is too small for a Brew Pub. Once you add in the dishes and glassware, kitchen, food storage (dry and...

To rack or not to rack

As it ages in the keg it will clear more. I like to keep my kegs between 35*F and 38*F, this allows them to drop everything within the first week and they are clear and bright when I start serving them.

    Milling grain and storage

Experimental Brewing just did an episode on this exact thing. Milled malt didn't have any noticeable difference in mash or flavor at 1 or even 2 months versus freshly milled malt.

    14G FastFerment Presale

I already have a couple of the FF 7.9 fermenters and love them. I think this new one is a great size and the price is reasonable, depending on what the total package includes. After buying all the "accessories" for the 7.9s, the cost was over $150 each. What is the height of this one with the...

OK, so how bad did I screw up?

If you just pitched your yeast, then there is no harm at all. If you had completed fermentation, you only need to let everything settle normally. In short, your beer is fine.

To rack or not to rack

It depends on your fermenter type. I have conicals that I dump trub before pitching yeast and dump the yeast before dry hopping/fruiting etc. I, also, use buckets and if I'm not planning on harvesting the yeast, I will dry hop right in over the yeast. I only rack to a secondary (and then only...

    FastFerment conical fermenter??????

Same here. But he was also draining from the trub too, I dump that stuff before I even pitch my yeast and then dump my yeast before sending it to my keg. :mug:

To rack or not to rack

Racking to secondary is not needed. It can introduce oxidation into the finished product. I only rack to a keg, a barrel or onto fruit or bacteria for sours. I don't even rack my IPAs to a secondary vessel.

Does your LHBS sell bulk grain at discount?

Some of you are paying way too much for sacks of base malts. I get mine for $36 before my discounts.

California newport beach to the bruery?

From the Hyatt Regency it is straight up the 55 freeway. Unfortunately traffic is a bear most anytime during the week and on Saturdays. Both of The Bruery's tasting rooms are less than 5 miles apart. There are several decent tap rooms in Orange County and a lot of really great ones about 50...

    Brew-Boss Giveaway! 20 Gallon Kettle

Even nice looking for 'old stock' kettles!

Does your LHBS sell bulk grain at discount?

Mine used to allow you to buy it by the sack and then it could be picked up as needed. Stopped doing it about 2 years ago though. I'd rather have it on hand rather then have to go get it the day before.

I need some help with my gravity calculations

You asked for help, the other poster was asking for clarification on the process and measurements. Berating someone for trying to offer help is the wrong way to go about it. I would have offered to help, but your attitude wasn't called for. Good luck with trying to figure this out. :smack:

My FoodSaver gets heavy use. I've been using it for nearly 4 years with minimal issues the entire time.

    FastFerment conical fermenter??????

My average loss is about .75 gallons, but it depends on the beer and where it is headed after fermentation. If I'm kegging I want 5.25 gallons, bottling I want 5 gallons, a long term secondary sour fermentation 6.25 gallons and my small barrel 5.5 gallons. Lower ABV beers that don't use a lot...

    Homebrew podcasts

This is pretty much why I've stopped listening to the BN, except for the Sour Hour, although that is starting to suffer from the same commercials issue. :(

    Comics

More humorous by far. I still have several thousand books I collected in the 80's and 90's. I speculated on a lot of books, but the ones I wish I still had were the Fantastic Four 3 set of books introducing Galactus and the Silver Surfer. I paid about $70 for the three books and sold them less...

    Comics

This brought back memories! Our family business was the one that actually bound the first 5 issues of the Hamsters! We actually bound a lot of the black and white books that came out just after TMNT and the first Dark Horse books. :rockin:
