Using snow to chill beer before serving

Thanks everyone! This is super helpful. I'm in central IL, forecast says low 20's. I have a pseudo-closed in back porch that has been staying about 10 degrees above the outside temp. Going to opt for the water-mixed-with-snow route and leave it on the porch. I'll check it periodically to make...

Using snow to chill beer before serving

Hey Folks, Brewed a winter warmer a few weeks back. The beer was brewed for a holiday party that is taking place in a few days. It hung out at ~68 for about 4 weeks in bottle, now its nicely carbed and tasty. My issue- I don't have a big enough fridge to chill the beer down in order to get...

    Winter Warmer

I haven't used nutmeg in beer, but half of a nut is a HUGE amount of nutmeg. I'm sure it's different, but when cooking I usually just take a few passes across the microplaner. A little goes along way. I'd imagine the same for the ginger.

    Stuck Fermentation???

Howdy Folks, Yet another newbie seeking advice on a stuck (maybe?) fermentation. The culprit: Brewer's Best Belgian Wit Kit from LHBS (extract). Subbed fresh orange zest (3 sweet oranges, no pith) and coriander (~1oz, fresh) rather than what came in the package. Brewed on 6/28, OG...

First Brew-what to expect with age

Yeah. I suppose I set myself up for that one.

First Brew-what to expect with age

Howdy All, Just cracked my first home brewed bottle! It's the NB Caribou Slobber. I noticed it was quite sweet at the finish. Is that something I can expect to mellow with more age? It was 9 days in primary, two weeks in secondary, and a week in bottle thus far. It seems to be fairly well...
