Googled for help when I had my first stuck mash.

I've been brewing for about a year and a half now. My son gave me "Extreme Brewing" for Christmas '08 and Sam hooked me. I did about 3 of his extract with specialty grain recipes and, control freak that I am, I jumped to all grain. Having more fun than I can stand!

As kronik said, you are not constantly recirculating. Only recirc when your mash temp falls below where you want it or you are raising for next step. A Ranco Temp Controller works great for turning the pump on and off if you don't want to babysit. Here's a link you might find interesting...

I was at High Gravity last Sunday at an all-grain class. They demonstrate with that very system. It works like a dream. I am slowly converting over to electric and emulating their system as closely as I can.
