Lazy Mutt Farmhouse Ale - Asking for Opinions

I'll say it is similar to Spotted Cow, but nowhere near as good. I would take most BMCs over it. Minihas also makes Mountain Creek, which sells for $7.99 a flat... So take that in to consideration.

    Fuller's ESB

I like the style quite a bit. I think they are a bit more bitter, maltier body, without as much hop aroma. Lakefront Brewery (Milwaukee) makes an Organic ESB which is real good. You should be able to find that in your metro area. (Appleton if not Neenah...)

    Small Batch/Experimental Brewing Equipment

I looked at the buckets at HomeDepot. Found them in the paint department. Perfect size. However, there was no indication that they were "food safe plastic". I found some older threads online that they were food safe and it was noted on the manufacturers website. I couldn't verify that, so...

Longevity of Coolers as HLT ?

Yes, there is. I'll let these threads do the talking...as I have no practical experience with them. https://www.homebrewtalk.com/f11/gas-burners-love-ts-pilot-light-demo-64899/ https://www.homebrewtalk.com/f11/help-wiring-honeywell-y8610u-gas-control-valve-pilot-burner-72295/

Good deals on stock pots and burners

It appears they have a problem. Whether it's a bad data/code in their software, or a data entry issue, I'm not sure. But... Look at the item name, not just the description. That $10 burner actually appears to be "Round Aluminum (5)". Some 24-32qt stock pots look similarly fishy. Look...

    Founders Brewing Company

I just tried this. It was good! But, not what I was expecting. I bought it at a specialty grocery store and I suspect it was a bit old, as some of the other bottles on the shelf definitely were. Because of this, I feel I need to try it again when I know it's fresh...

    Fermentation Charts

Sweet. Thanks, this should come in handy. I'm looking at the 2007 Traditional Mead chart... Does each line represent a different brewers batch? Did you not hit your Target FG, or is the data incomplete? I'm just making sure I understand what I'm looking at.

Cream of Three Crops - Mini Mash style

I'm interested to see how this compares to Spotted Cow. If it does, I'll have to give it a shot.

    Man, I love Apfelwein

I would go straight to the bottles. As long as your racking cane isn't sitting in sediment*, going straight to the bottles will be the same as racking to a bucket. If you're concerned about stirring up the sediment, I would let your fermentor sit for awhile after moving it from the floor to...

So I've got a spare refrigerator!!!!!

Either or. From what I gather it is more of a personal preference than anything. Some want it inside so it's not seen outside the fridge. Some want it outside so more kegs fit inside. If you look at the kegerator/keezer threads, you'll see it both ways. The one thing I don't know is what...

SEWAGE (and anyone else) Weekly Beer tasting in Oconomowoc

Not this week...but I will be keeping this in mind. Out of curiosity, how many people normally show?

How full does carboy need to be?

Did you take gravity readings? If so, you can calculate the approximate alcohol content knowing your starting and finishing gravities. If you didn't take them, they might be listed in your instructions. Failing that, if you post the receipe, someone might be able to estimate it, knowing the...

    Granite City - Madison, WI

Granite City West Town Mall, Madison, WI I went here for dinner the other night. It was a nice atmosphere and the food was tasty. They had 4 regular beers + 1 seasonal on tap. Northern Lager IPA Stout Bock Octoberfest (Seasonal) I had the stout, which was fantastic. My girlfriend...

pub recommendations in London and Coventry?

I don't remember the name of the place, but we found a chain-pub that had a burger, fires and a pint for about 4 pounds. Considering I paid over 3 pounds for a guinness, it was great deal. They serve 3-4 cask ales, which were great. I definitely recommend trying one. Also, you can get...

    Heating Elements?

Fair enough. Reading everything again, I missed that you wanted to use them for the boil as opposed to in the "overall process." With that said, I can't think of any threads that specifically mentioned their use in the boil... However, there are several threads that discuss results of...

    Heating Elements?

Yes - others have suggested this. It may be hard to regulate to a spefic temperature. Look up brew belt. There's another product that's like a heated blanket, I forget what it's called. Another common suggestion is to put your fermentor in a cooler filled with water. Drop in an aquarium...

    Heating Elements?

After reading your original post again, you didn't post an actual question, so I'm don't know what kind of response you were looking for. Also, you're in a sub-forum that might not get much traffic. Will they work? Sure. Do people use them? Yes. What pieces of equipment are they used in...
