    DME Boil time?

Interesting, I think it might be the yeast?? It is the first time I have started in the carboy. Always something new and fun with home brewing!

can the Coors light resealable metal pint bottles be used for homebrew?

They are not unlike the glass jugs with the screw on caps I assume? If so, they will work but probably only a few times. The guy at my brew store advised me to only use them 2-3 times. So I would go for using them twice and see how it goes!

    DME Boil time?

So I just started a fairly simple IPA, used some light liquid malt extract and light dry malt extract. Hops, yeast ect... not really a noob anymore to extract brewing have had some decent although simple beers... BUT... I noticed that my DME looks a little clumpy this time. I can see it, as...

Hefeweizen kit. How can I improve it?

I have been doing coriander in mine as well as some orange peel in the boil. Works well.

    Summer Wheat beer idea... thoughts?

Adding a specialty grain is starting to sound more complicated that I thought lol! I basically made this beer, minus the irish moss and specialty grains a few months ago. I also used the German wheat yeast, otherwise it was the same. I swapped the yeast to try for a more "American" wheat...

    Summer Wheat beer idea... thoughts?

Beersmith? No. But I just looked it up, thanks for the idea.

    Summer Wheat beer idea... thoughts?

I did make it already, but without the stepped grains, it was the best beer I made , I thought it was pretty good! I wanted to try and add some specialty grains for a steep. I did read those were some good options, but I imagine that was incorrect. If someone has an idea for a specialty grains...

    Summer Wheat beer idea... thoughts?

Ah ok, I guess there is no point then. What would be a good specialty grain for a wheat beer???

    Summer Wheat beer idea... thoughts?

Dextrose is just to boost alcohol content. I prime with one cup of course. I basically made this beer already but without the grains. I got the grains recommendation from the internet... and the internet is never wrong lol. So are some of you saying there is no point in doing these...

Beginner to beer brewing at home [initial questions]

You could go "high class extract" method haha, don't use a kit but rather build your own better quality kit so to speak. Research they type of beer you are interested in and buy the appropriate: 1. Liquid malt extract 2. Dry malt extact 3. Hopps 4. Quality yeast 5. Specialty grains...

    Secondary or Not?

I make similar beers as you are posting from extract. I stopped doing a secondary and noticed an improvement. I believe there are only a few types of beer you really need a secondary for, like if you are dry hopping fruit or leaving your beer in there for a month you might want to move it to a...

    Grolsch Ingredients?

Thanks that provides some good info. I don't know if I am a noob or not anymore... I guess I'm not... this will be my 7th brew. My first two were so so... but my last 4 have been surprisingly good, much improved anyway. Certainly no expert but I guess off the noob wagon now maybe.

    Grolsch Ingredients?

Yes that is exactly what I mean... I have had some success with some IPA kits and some Wheat beer kits... adding extra hopps, coriander, different yeast, DME ect... Now wanted to take a stab at essentially a European Lager... I like IPA, Wheat beers and European Lagers... Funny, I...

    Grolsch Ingredients?

Can anyone recommend me some ingredients for a Grolsch clone? I am currently still a noob and have graduated to "kicking up" regular kits. So far I have been pleasantly surprised with the decent results and am hooked on brewing. Now, I'm not naive enough to think I'm going to get a "bang on"...

First brew turned out pretty bad, any tips for future brews??

I would give it another go, most ppl have a mediocre first beer, myself included. You will notice improvements quickly if you adjust... I have only done 6 brews and the difference has gone from borderline undrinkable to borderline craft beer quality quickly. I have done 3 wheat beers, bc they...

BUD LIGHT clone, this sound right?

As I read the OP's post I thought I would write a clever joke about pee being the key ingredient, I see you beat me to it. Congrats.

    Drinking beer early???

Seems like it could be a variety of things. I dont really drink "green" beer often, I just try a few at the 5 day mark, I guess just to see bc I cant wait, out of curiosity. After that I wait another 10 days and drink the remaining 21 liters, of the initial 23. When I drink them at the 2 wk...
