    CHUBBY Brewing's Official Build Thread

Did my first brew on Saturday on the new system and I have to say I couldn't be more pleased. It was amazing how well things went and I didn't really run in to any issues. The worst thing that happened was that I lost contact with my BCS a couple times but I think that is because of the...

    Basement Brewing with Dehumidifier

I am getting ready to do my first basement brew on Saturday and am worried that for now I have to choke down my exhaust hood thru a 4" vent to the outside instead of 6". It has been an unusually wet summer and I already have 2 dehumidifiers running in my basement nonstop pulling out at least 3...

    CHUBBY Brewing's Official Build Thread

Fire away, hopefully I can answer any questions that come up. So much of my knowledge has come from pouring over these forums. Nice, I grew up here and basically lived my whole life here other than college and a few years in the neighboring town of Waconia. Had to move back because WHUBBY...

Build Blog: Single Tier, 2 pump, BCS-460, RIMS

Looking good. Sure is handy (and dangerous) having a place like Discount Steel so close.

    Bubba's Barrels

I haven't personally but have seen many people have good experiences dealing with them, both on the homebrew and the BBQ side of things.

    Should I pimp my kettle?

If you whirlpool after cooling you should be able to keep most the crud out of your fermenter without a hop spider/bazooka screen although using one would be even better.

    Stir plate magnets reversing polarity

I figured it had more to do with the name of his brewery... Paranormal Brewing!

    Camlock - thread vs barb

I would recommend the barbed fittings from Brew Hardware as they have the large orifices that don't restrict flow. It's what I used. I don't think you really need threads on the female camlocks, should pretty much always be females on hoses and male camlocks on your kettles/pumps/etc...

Home Super Brewery Build: Hybrid Electric/Gas 3BBL Build

They look like at least 6k's to me so I'm going to guess it's at least 24k!!

Two Pumps: Mount them together or apart?

I mounted mine close together for ease of swapping hoses. I have one step where I need to swap the inputs between the two and it's easier this way. Also makes hose length less of an issue as an extra 6 inches makes each house connect to either pump.

Going on vacation and dont own an airlock!

Sounds like only improvised corks are available at the commissary and someone doesn't want their hooch to explode while spending some time in the SHU! j/k but buy some airlocks, they're cheap.

How is my RIMS defying the laws of physics??

When you are using the lab thermometer to measure the temp of the water returning are you just putting it into the stream of water? If so, how about taking a measuring cup, say 2 cups, fill that with the returning water and put your probe in there. Just curious if that would show the same as...

    CHUBBY Brewing's Official Build Thread

Thanks, can't believe I bought the kettles 8 months ago. Getting excited now. Need to move a few things so I can move the brew stand to the right so it clears my control panel but I think it's going to work good here.

    CHUBBY Brewing's Official Build Thread

An incredibly long time between updates but that's what happens when life gets in the way. I have my stand built but I can't find my pics so they will be coming shortly. But for now, after months of waiting I finally got my pots back. I can't complain about the wait since the cost was free...
