@gillie: Yes, you add them together PF 1 Pump during heating of strike water 2 Pump during ramping up to reach next mash steps 4 Pump during the mash steps 8 Pump during heating up to reach hot break 16 Pump during hot break So, if you want the pump to run during heating of strike water...

I do think they are still available. Ordering straight from the manufacturer, you'd definitely get the right one (but they will only sell in bulk). The manufacturer uses AliExpress to sell their products in lower quantities, but I think the ethics of AliExpress is quite... relaxed... so, they'll...

You're welcome :) The fuse is for electrical safety. A short does not have to be a no resistance path directly to ground.

A 'normal' household light bulb is the A19 (no I don't know this stuff... googled it). The 19 means it is 19 eights of an inch in diameter (or around 6cm). Assuming it is spherical (yeah I know, it is not, but close enough) that would mean 4*π*r² or about 115cm² surface area. They don't...

Safest light bulb heating fermenter setup

No, it really isn't. It has got least 3 or 4 times the needed power draw. You might not feel it *because* of the fan, but if the fan stops, it will get hot. Possibly it has overheating protection and if so, that is certainly a good thing. Still though, you don't need a lot of power. And...

Safest light bulb heating fermenter setup

Ok, €26 sounds like a pretty good deal so, I'd go for that. However, I'm in Sweden and order stuff from eBay (from China) all the time. Just once have I had to pay tax and customs and that was on an order of > €50. Ok. First off the 'plans' circulating around for the paint can heaters...

Yeah. It's not the worst idea I've seen :) Weaving the cable into some grating(?, sorry I don't know if that is the correct word, the sort of meshed wire shelf from the fridge or an oven), it can be placed along the wall of the fridge.

200w is still a lot. And they have a fan that could fail/be obstructed. Lots of surface and low power is desirable. Heating cable is cheap and probably safer.

Then your'e doing it wrong; $22 gets you 5m (50w) cable (inc. shipping), which is more than enough. If you can find a cheaper tube heater, then go for that!

Avoid the paint can! If on a budget, I'd go for some "pipe anti-freeze heating cable" off eBay.

Well, if you got them from that specific Ali store, then they're not as advertised, as it specifically states A400_P. I've heard others have gotten refunds after being sent wrong type units. There's the inkbird thermostats as well. So, I guess there are a lot of options, depending on what your...

@Arctic & @FireManDan: Well, there are a number of ppl that have got the right controller from there also. And it specifically lists A400_P, so if you don't get one, from what I heard, Ali is quite reasonable in making up for that.

    Stc-1000+

@FireManDan: This should be the right one (but AliExpress has been known to send the wrong type anyway): https://www.aliexpress.com/store/product/temperature-controller-STC-1000/1305777_2004466302.html Otherwise, chances are you'll get an STM8 based unit and can give Emile's version a try :)

    Hello from germany: MattMill

Hi @Mattmill ! I'm glad to see you here and I hope you really are ok with questions, as I have a few lined up :) I'm interested in your mills. They *seem* really nice, but unfortunately information is scarce when ones german skills are... Well, lacking.. Ok, so what I want in a mill is: * A...

STC-1000+ PI (the mash control firmware)

@bjarneo: Ok. For pump control, the 'third' terminal output (next to the temperature probe inputs) is used, not the relay outputs. This is also just a control signal, so you need something to 'amplify' the signal or 'drive' the pump. The 8A LED dimmers are great for this and very cheap. Have a...

STC-1000+ PI (the mash control firmware)

No, that is way to much. A switching PSU won't do you much good either, unless you also have something to actually *drive* the load. An SSR will be fine to drive directly though.

STC-1000+ PI (the mash control firmware)

Hei @bjarneo ! Maybe you shorted it, but even if not, I really don't think the STC can handle the current draw from a pump directly.

    Induction + STC-1000?

@BridgewaterBrewer: No, it can't. But it doesn't have to, it can be used to control the on/off signal to the induction hob in the case of the Hendi. That is just a 5v logic signal. @Weezy: The link works fine for me.
