Show me your diy vent hood.

I was thinking of doing exactly that with wood, but I did not think of the bed liner. How much did the whole thing cost? I was contemplating using Formica with silicone at the edges. I was also thinking of maybe only covering the boil kettle like you did. I plan on putting lids on the...

Show me your diy vent hood.

Right now, I am considering wood with Formica on the inside and using rtv silicone on all of the inside seams. I am also considering polyiso foam panels the fiberglassing them. That would be more durable, but more work I think. Any thoughts? Pictures of what you did?

    Pid questions

Has anyone used the Rex-c100 series pid's? They do not look like they are as accurate as others, but they can be had on eBay for $11. I am thinking of using them just for alarms and temperature measuring.

    Pid questions

Do you feel that the td4 is as good/accurate as the auberins? I also need to be able to have my alarms go off when I hit my set temp. I saw that the auberins have an alarm setting of deviation and that zero was a valid number. Can the td4 do that? Thanks for your help.

    Pid questions

Do they have all of the same features as the auberins? Alarms, etc. Do you have a comparable manual? The auberins have such a well written manual, I was tempted to get 3 of those just to save me the pain of figuring out the Chinese version. Thanks.

    Pid questions

I have not selected my pid temperature controlled yet, but I do have a few questions that will let me plan. What brand/model are you using and are you happy? I noticed that there are multiple power options for most pid s. In Kal's example, it looks like he is using 120v to power his pid s...

    New concept herms/rims idea?

So, one other concept would be to use the rims tube in series before the cfc. It just seamed like more cleaning. I am trying to reduce the number of valves/steps required between brewing steps. I appreciate all of the feedback. There is a wealth of knowledge here and I appreciate...

    New concept herms/rims idea?

No, it will have an open overflow path. When I turn on the cold water, the system overflows to the drain and flushes the cfc with cold water.

    New concept herms/rims idea?

Thanks for your feed back though. Had I not gone down the path I did, I would have looked further at idea you mentioned.

    New concept herms/rims idea?

The problem is that my heater hose is not food grade. And the HLT water would be touching brass, which some say is bad. Also, I have the rims tube, so I thought I should use it, but I was worried about one more item to clean. Plus the water from the herms would buffer it a little. And a...

    New concept herms/rims idea?

Oh, one more thing. The heater hose I selected is good for 250 F so I can run boiling wort or water through my cfc to sterilize it.

    New concept herms/rims idea?

So I have an idea, but I wanted to know if I am crazy or not. Here goes....... I bought 50 ft of 3/8 copper tube for use in a counter flow chiller. I bought 50 ft of high temp 5/8 heater hose. I bought brass fittings to combine the heater hose onto the copper tube like everyone else...

Show me your diy vent hood.

I am looking for home made vent hood designs. By home made, I mean the fabrication of the hood itself was done by you. I am thinking of making a wood vent hood with some sort of liner, but I would like to see what you did. Thanks in advance.

    Outdoor Bar build

Awesome build! I like the concrete counter tops and the way you set things up. What are you using to form the bull nose on the concrete counter tops?

    Any painters out there?

I have a bunch of it. It would take weeks to hand paint it. I am stalling 8 bays. I do want a sprayer for other reasons. There are some shelves that can only go in one location so I am not so worried about reconfiguring. I guess what would make the most sense would be to assemble the...

    Any painters out there?

All I have a bunch of pallet racks that I plan to use for my brewery/shop. The vertical parts are blue and the horizontal parts are orange. All parts have some rust on them. My plan was to assemble them, then pressure wash any loose materials off, then spray with rustoleum rusty Metal...

    Cheap compact wort pump

I just ordered 2 pumps. They look like all of the ones on this thread, but I bought the 24v ones that have more flow. This one. http://m.ebay.com/itm/290934852826?_mwBanner=1 I don't plan on using these for wort. I plan on making a glycol chiller. Anyone know if these are good...

    Pipe dope vs tape

The pipe dope I have used was labelled as a sealant. I had 4 threaded joints with tape and 2 of them leaked even with them as tight as I could get it. I then use pipe dope and the sealed right up without any problems. Pipe dope is like any other paste.... It makes a mess if you are...

    Pipe dope vs tape

So I did some home plumbing and next I plan to start setting up my brewery. I have occasionally had Teflon taped NPT joints leak, but I have never had an issue with Teflon pipe dope. I prefer pipe dope for that reason. Is there any reason not to use pipe dope on my electric brewery...
