    Need a digital temp controller

I'm looking to put the final touches on my bar and the last thing is a keggerator. I got a chest freezer off craigs list, and the next step is to get a temperature controller so I don't freeze my kegs. I looked on eBay and nothing there matches what is shown on NB. My question: I'm on a...

    AHS $20 kits Question

if you want an alcohol boost, just buy a lb or two of corn sugar, that will jump it up a good amount... or add brown sugar for a boost and a slight butterscotch flavor. As for the yeast fuel, not needed

Advice For A Brewer In Florida

I've just fermented in the back of a closet away from the sides of the house, and never had any issues. Talk to your lhbs and they can help you pick out good yeast that won't need too much babysitting.

Best Beer Festival in SE USA for a bachelor party

Read the beer list for last one and it was about 250, beats the hell out of the normal 50-100 ones that I'm used to. Not sure if a Gator like me will do well that deep in dawg country, but it's on the list, maybe a day trip out of ATL. Thanks, anyone have any others?

There's two World of Beers, one close to the theme parks, one near UCF. Those are always a good choice.

simple random sample (ATM deposit preference)

I like the ATm, much quicker, easier, and best of all, Open 24/7. As for putting cash into an ATM, unless I become a stripper, I can't think of a reason that I would have enough cash to make it worth depositing it. But I use the check deposit at the ATM whenever I have checks, can't remember...

Best Beer Festival in SE USA for a bachelor party

I'm looking for a great festival somewhere in the SE as part of a bachelor weekend. We are looking at within 8-10 hours of central FL (so Carolinas and Mississippi are probably the furthest limits) and around this time next year (March or April) Bonus points if its in (or near) a big city...

    2010 Sam Adams Winter Classis

I'm just glad they finally got rid of that damn cranberry crap, plus replacing the sam light they usually have in the holiday pack was a huge bonus. As for the beers, I view SA as a whole as a "gateway" beer... helping people go from **** to quality... so they do a good balancing act of ****...

Looking for a good Russian non-stout recipe

The SWMBO is Russian and asked me to make her a russian beer, and since i need some bonus points I've been looking into it. The issue is she hates stouts and that's the only type of recipe I can find. Does anyone have any recipes or any styles that are popular over there? Thanks

    Door to Door Beer

maybe someway to sell online and have deliver (that way FedEx checks for 21+) but that would run the cost up as much as the brew of the month club does. Would be nice though.

    Beer # 2 and 3, recipe advice

I always like to go search the brew supply websites to find what I want to brew next. They have a great selection, and looking is always free (at least in brewing). As for the lighter beer... aim for a brown ale and slowly convert your buddy to the dark side.

    Apartment Brewing, Is It Possible?

the only real issue with apartment brewing is storage. The crappy stove you get used to, and everything else is about the same. Just find a closet or something that you can store everyting in (from full carboys to spare empty bottles) and you'll be fine.

Why not use ice to cool wort?

I use this method and it works fine.... I do a single ice bath (single as in I only added ice once and once it all melts I move one to step two) Basically I add my water to the freezer before I turn on the stove for the seeping grains. Once everything is finished, I put the pot in an ice...

Where can I try some Appfelwein?

If you have StrongBow offered around you, its similar to Afewiezen, not quite as good, but can do in a pinch.

    sweet potato beer

I'm doing an extract version (got the recipe off here, but can't find the link now) I'm adding 1 can with seeping grains and the other can after about 3 days (during fermentation) The ingredients of the canned SP are just sweet potatoes, water, sugar, spices (the last 3 from the juice they are...

    sweet potato beer

Hey, I'm making a sweet potato beer for thanksgiving this weekend and have a quick question. Can I use canned 'Yams' as my sweet potato (instead of a sweet potato mash/pie filling)? Should I use or drain the juice they come in? Thanks

    Please Help!! Very Worried!!

To answer the question about "What's the point of a gravity reading" The main use of gravity readings are to find the abv of your beer. There's some equation (FG-OG)/(some number) which gives you your abv. It's also a good indicator of when your beer is done fermenting. (holds steady for...

    Alcohlic warmth in Apfelwein

no advice on how to 'add' the alcoholic warmth to it? I really wish I knew what i did 'wrong' the first time... As for opening it early, I find adding a teaspoon of splenda helps make it taste better young... but after a few months you don't need the splenda any more. Also, if you have open...
